Tally HO!

We viewed a fox yesterday on our club 4th of July summer ride.

Pretty funny since we’re a drag hunt. We had lots of guests since the 2nd group is very slow, so lots of “trail riders”.

One rider yells “there’s a fox” and I immediately rip off a “Tally Ho” (something us drag hunters don’t really get to say"). Mr. Fox stood in the field and stared at the multitude of horses staring at him.

It was a fun ride, had rained the previous night. My horse had an interesting slip and ended up on his belly with his front legs in splayed in front and his hind legs crossed under him. I was still on him and the entire field witnessed him get back up without dumping me. We were perfectly balanced…but sitting on a 17hh tb standing up from that position was rather surreal…maybe how a camel feels?

LOL

How very cool! Where’s that iPhone when you need it?

Years ago, when I was taking lessons out in Goochland Co., there was a fox squashed  in the road in front of Deep Run Hunt. What a shame for everyone.

I’m sure, both views were impressive! Perhaps your recovery even more so than the Tally Ho…ly Moly… they actually got back up, semi gracefully!

pleasantmeadowfarm: yeh…after oreilly gave a tremendous groan (he is famous for his groaning, even in dressage) as he stood up, some riders wanted to know what sticky stuff I used to stay on…I replied…“oh s**t strap and determination!”… LOL
