Tape fence - attaching to wood

We have 4 board as our perimeter fence. Within it I have a drylot which is separated using 2" tape fence. We are having a permanent solid fence installed in spring, but in the meantime they keep pushing through the tape. I’m looking for suggestions on what you can attach to wood that will hold the tape well.
We were using these, and they are ok, but Im looking for maybe some better suggestions.

I think the problem is that the tape is meeting the wood at a T, and its creating too much tension on the insulators and theyre popping out from the wood eventually.

I need something soon because we have had so much rain that even the horses walking on the field is causing it to get torn to shreds.

I have Horseguard for tape fencing attached to wood posts at the ends using the insulators for Horseguard. Have never had them come loose from the posts. But they use some decent size lag bolts to attach to the wood, where the ones you posted look like maybe they are just screwed on with smaller screws? So maybe just upgrading a bit on the hardware would help, if I’m understanding what you are saying (that the insulators are pulling free of the wood). And is the tape hot? That would be the best way to keep them from pushing through, unless they are very determined!

Are the insulators being screwed back into the same holes?
I have Horseguard insulators for bi-polar tape but already had these up (http://www.kencove.com/fence/Wood+Po…etail_JWPW.php) for the regular electric tape that I’d strung up before the Horseguard. The Kencove insulators were affordable and durable and work fine on line posts, but I use the Horseguard insulators at the corners & ends. The Horseguard insulators screw into the posts and grip the tape. The Kencove insulators come with thin nails but I replaced them with 10D 2 1/2" nails, and the screwed on Horseguard and nailed on Kencove are attached to PT pine posts.

I had Horseguard as well. I had issues with the insulators breaking (it was a bad batch of insulators that Horseguard replaced at no charge), but never with them pulling out of the wood.

Couple of questions:

  1. is your tape electric and are you sure it’s working?
  2. How tight are you making the tape? With electric tape I never had to have it super tight - just enough to keep it straight.
  3. Another thought - are you trying to run a single line around a corner? I never did that. Horseguard sold corner brackets. Alternatively, you could just use the regular insulators and use a small piece of jumper wire from one side to the next.

If your insulators are pulling out from the wood, try securing them with zip-ties or hose clamps.

I also sometimes have trouble with the tape actually zapping my horses in the winter, so I run a ground wire about 6 inches under the tape. Knocks them into next week. (you wont want to test this yourself, trust me, it hurts)

Use screws. Nails work loose over the years and can end up in hooves.
