Tapestry Comfort Girth?

I did a quick search but didn’t see a lot of reviews on this girth. I’m interested in trying it on my extremely girthy little horse but I’d like some more reviews other than their Facebook and website testimonials.

I’d be using the monoflap version. Thanks for any opinions!

I picked up a santa cruz girth with similar elastic sections but a normal girth shaped center at a tack sale but haven;t used it - reviews on it might help with whether or not the elastic is a good idea for girthy horses or a gimick?

Yes, exactly. I feel like the concept is quite gimmicky but at the same time I would love to see if it makes a difference. I just don’t want to drop $160 without checking around first, haha.

tack swap and sales are popular here - I think I paid $40 for mine - hence the “that’s different, I’ll buy it just in case I ever need it” accumulation of stuff in my tack room

A barn mate bought one for her very girthy horse and I helped her stretch it out by using it on my guy. My guy hated it. He is not ordinarily girthy, but it made him super girthy and he just seemed uncomfortable with it. He was stiff through his back and kicked at my leg a bit, which is not like him. That being said, the barn mate who bought has since been using it and I believe that she is happy with it, I also know of another person that has one that really likes it, so it might just have been my overly dramatic TB.

I got one for my sensitive horse. I have to say it was okay, nothing magical, he didn’t go better, didn’t act any different when I tightened it. What I found out he went best in, was a $30 fleece girth on sale. It’s a nice idea, but not worth the money.

@ammyforlife and @2horseowner did you guys experience any issues with the saddle slipping or anything like that with this girth?

I didn’t notice any slipping, but I didn’t jump in it.

One, they stole a friends photo she took of her friend riding in it and used it without permission for publicity, on their site, ads, etc, after her contacting them many many times and refused to take it down.

Two, she had the girth, and it destroyed her horses back, to the point it needed body work for a good few months after.

Do not recommend.

I don’t recall any slippage, but I had make sure it tight enough several times, as I kept thinking it was slipping, but it wasn’t. Not the best feeling to have. My trainer was concerned that the girth would stretch out to soon. I doubt I will ever use it again.

Thanks for your opinions, you guys! Really appreciate it.

I have a sensitive TB. He reacted terribly to a fleece girth - spent the whole ride kicking out and threatening to buck (we just walked that day). He’s the second TB I have had react like that to a fleece girth. This TB had recently picked up the habit of side to side head shaking like he had flies in his ears. He would start with the ear flick and then shake. It would switch between ears and ear nets made it worse. With knowing he was picky about girths and knowing from his body worker that he had restriction from his sternum up to his poll I decided to give this girth a try. I purchased the dressage girth and the head shaking immediatly was reduced by 70-80%. And he would sigh under saddle. That is a big deal for him. He is an anxious breath holder. So - just like the Micklem bridle and bits I think girths can make a difference for different horses. I believe they are individuals too and some have strong preferences about certain pieces of tack and others could care less - much like some people are picky about boots and others their breeches.

Picked one up a couple of weeks ago and my very girthy mare is much better about saddling now, and seems to get softer and relaxed sooner in the ride than she has ever been before- my coach noticed it as well!

I know this is an older post but I wanted to see if anyone has been using this girth?

I picked one up a couple weeks ago as an only option in my mares size after a new saddle purchase. (Shorter billets than other saddle)

Really not a huge fan. It’s a huge pain in the butt to get done up because the two buckles are stuck together, next to impossible to stretch to tighten yet when your on the girth is flapping loose, don’t even try to tighten it when your on or else the whole girth comes undone and you go flying! (was kind of comical but scared the bejesus out of my horse and I wasn’t pleased to have my new custom saddle hit the dirt)

My mare also is not finicky with girth’s yet didn’t seem to love the sternum pad.

I tried to return it after one use but couldn’t and contacted the company owner who honestly wasn’t pleased that I wasn’t satisfied. She offered an exchange but this doesn’t help the fact that I don’t like it.

I am now out nearly $200, I would have thought a small one owner company would have been more helpful. I honestly just want my money back.

Curious to know if anyone disliked it at first and began to like it later?

The owner is something else…not going to say much more because frankly she’s a bit unstable imo but your post does not surprise me. At all.

Very interesting to know! I have had other issues with a few equine companies over the years and each company has come good with their satisfaction promise.

Thinline for that matter replaced at their own expense a two year old half pad where the sheepskin fell off.

I truly have to say I would not recommend the product in future. Sad though, could be onto something design wise, yet I still love the old mohair girth’s of yesteryear lol
