This is an older horse, so his tattoo is a little hard for me to read. Any ideas? I was told he is a 2002. Thanks in advance!

Any white anywhere else besides his face?

See a 962 there fairly clear. If he’s got any white elsewhere, that will help match him even off a partial reading. The face marking is quite distinctive. what would you guys call that? Star to strip to off center to left snip?

Thanks…so far! Yes, here is another pic.

Can someone tell me what letter signifies a 2002 model? Thanks!

2002 starts with an F. Beyond that sorry I’m no help, I can’t decipher it.

Does he have any other white at all? Even a few hairs? His face is distinctive enough that he should be easy to find but I’m not seeing any matches with the two white legs in a 5 year age range.

I will check and report back. I have tried to search and am failing. :frowning:

Nothing else quite other then a tiny spot on his shoulder. I took a closer picture of his muzzle.

Okay, thanks, all. I sent an inquiry to the JC to see if they can help. Crossing my fingers. Wish me luck!

Post back if you do figure out who he is. I’m wondering if maybe he’s an import and that’s why he’s not showing up. Or whether the description is just off enough that none of us are realizing the match.

^^^I sure will. Thank you!

Do you think this fits from the pics I posted?

"Large irregular star and connected narrow stripe, widening on bridge of nose, ending between nostrils. Left fore: pastern white, extending on ankle in back. Right hind: white to above ankle, lower on inside. Double horizontal cowlick above eye level. "

I may have found him. If so, he’s two years older than I was told, which isn’t surprising when buying an older horse.

I saw that one, and while it could be him it’s an extremely generic description of his blaze. I’d expect more detail since it is fairly unique. Does the white on his legs match? Can’t see his hind in the photo. And does he have the double cowlick?

To me, the star is irregular, pointed at top, connected to a thin irregular stripe, widening on bridge of nose (possibly extending to left?), narrowing and becoming bordered flesh colored just above nostrils, ending between nostrils with faint or mixed hairs that extend to touch right nostril.

Bordered Stripe - the outer edge of the stripe is a mixture of white and coat color hairs. Can be narrow, wide, etc.

Bordered Flesh Colored Stripe - the outer edge of the stripe contains solid white or mixed white hairs, while the center of the stripe is pink in color. Can be narrow, wide, etc.

Thanks for your thoughts, Cammie. I may just need to see if I can do a DNA test. Yes, he has two cowlicks on the top of the blaze in the white section. I wasn’t sure what they meant by horizontal, but these are pretty close to on a horizontal plane if that is what they mean. And yes, the leg markings do seem to match the description.
