TB pedigree

Does anyone recognize any of these bloodlines?
I am not very familiar with TB bloodlines and how they relate to the sports… but I’ve really enjoyed reading the other posts regarding thoroughbred pedigrees.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the bloodlines of my new mare. Thank you in advance for any information!!!

It’s unusal to see a horse with Precipitation, Hyperion, and Tudor Minstrel all in the first 5 generations these days!

Is that a good thing?

Green Dancer was used a LOT in Selle Francais breeding, so I would consider that a good line for a sport horse.

Tudor Minstrel and Spy Song also appear in sport horse pedigrees.

Thank you for the information. Natalie is a very, very nice mover… maybe that is where she got it from!!!

What jumps out for me is Sandpit - I’m sure your mare is gorgeous by this guy too. But anyway he has Busted and Snob on the 1st page. Busted giving you a Wild Risk cross and Snob gives you a cross to the great Mourne.

look at thoroughbred ped-pic and details sandpit

also pic of your mare and some info. Has had foal(s).

nice old-fashioned

I love Green Dancer–gives wonderful movement. You have the great Sea Bird. This pedigree has alot of European blood.

Honestly?

This is a wonderful, wonderful sport horse pedigree for a Thoroughbred. There only one line that I see that hasn’t produced for sport, and that’s the very bottom.
The Sheshoon/Sassafras line is one of the last European Matchem lines left and should be treasured. Baynoun was bred by the Aga Khan from his impeccable bloodlines and breeding strategies, was a moderately successful race horse and was sent to Brazil where he flourished as a sire. Thank heavens they were saved in Brazil with Sandpit and others and imported here.
Green Dancer is found in a whole slew of French chasing pedigrees and is one of the best Northern Dancers to have for sport. You have Busted, you have a double to Dan Cupid, who is found in many SF pedigrees and is the sire of Sea Bird, who is excellent for eventing at the least. Sea Bird’s damsire was Sicambre, son of the mare Sif, and Sicambre was the sire of the WB TB jumping sire, Sacramento Song. Green Valley gives you Val de Loire and Vieux Manoir, staples of SF breeding, and her dam, Sly Pola, who was exported to France, is of excellent US sport horse lines, since she goes back to Spy Song/Balladier and a truly special dam line–one of the best classic American ones… Ampola’s lines show up in lots of European WBs, through several daughters, including Polamia, dam of Gray Dawn II. You have a double to Spy Song through Sly Pola and in the bottom in Whitesburg. Papila, the dam of Crimson Satan is a definite influence for soundness, and is the female family of Tiznow through one of her daughters who had over 100 starts. Mirabio brings in the great sire line of Prince Rose, sire of Prince Bio, Princequillo, and Prince Chevalier, and it’s doubled farther back. WB people consider that line one of the best.

Snob is another line to Vieux Manoir through a daughter of Sif, dam of Sicambre; and Suffisante’s sire was Free Man, son of Norseman. You have another line to Sif through Suffisante, and Sif really was a very special blue hen mare for athletic and jumping horses. Snob’s breeding is somewhat similar to Laudanum xx’s, and Laudanum was an International level jumper and sire.

Baggage Claim is the only line that I don’t recognize for several generations back.

I love this pedigree. It’s a nice mixture of Excellent European lines through Sandpit and classic American lines on the bottom.

Yes! Although as you have heard already and more importantly, there’s a lot of good horses close up too!

I’ve heard a lot about Green Dancer. The Tudor line is also known for producing beautiful movers as well as jumpers.

So YOU’RE the lucky devil who ended up with that pretty mare! Congratualtions, and good luck with her. She sure is a gorgeous!

I have an '89 Model by Sassafras, and her yearling TB daughter. Both really pretty, elegant mares. The filly is more refined, but so was her sire.

The dam was just approved GOV this year, and missed AHS approvals by 1 point. :frowning:

She is currently in foal to Federalist, hoping she’ll have another nice filly.

Your Chestnut mare looks cute! Boy does she have some interesting bling!

Love, love, love Sandpit! You could not imagine a more elegant or mannerly stallion. I had the privilege of seeing him at Vinery and he would have made an awesome show horse. It is so sad that his career at stud ended so quickly! Always wanted one of his daughters!!

My foundation mare was by Sassafras. She was an outstanding sport producer.

I love your mare’s pedigree for sport. Best of luck with your her.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! You have all put a smile on my face tonight!!!

I purchased Natalie because of her nice movement, confirmation (my trainer really liked how she was put together) and of course, I love her color. I have started riding her and plan on showing this summer (I ride dressage - mostly) and will breed her… just haven’t decided if it’s in the cards for this year or not.

Anyone have any suggestions as to whom they would breed her to? I would like to breed for an upper level dressage prospect.

Here is a confirmation shot: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=151338&id=1833740556

Clear Blue has had great crosses with Le Premieur on her Sassafras mare, if I am correct. He certainly is a versatile stallion!

I have 2 fillies by Waldaire o/o TB mares: both are subatantial yearlings. Both dams are 15.3H.
Annie is a forward/sensitive mare with solid bone: typical to her Bold Ruler breeding. More hunter type mover. The black filly (o/o bay mare) looked more “TB” in type when she was born (lighter in type) and later beefed up. The mare needed a better set on neck (typical tb “dip” at the withers) and a shorter/stronger topline which she did get from Wally. This fillys temperment is like Moms…more sensitive and forward. She is whip smart. Overall she looks like what she is: a TB/WB cross. Some of the TB does come through in her. (She is also a super jumper…unfortunately for me she has been leaping the pasture fence to get the better grass on the other side since PRE weaning). She is most times more of a hunter type mover but when she gets “up” on a cool and windy day etc. she can sproing off with some good suspension. She is 15.1H at 18 mos old.
The second filly was hatched sproinging around with pots of suspension from day one. She is the really laid back one. Mom is also the more “dressage type” of the 2 mares. This is the chestnut filly o/o a chestnut mare. She is now 15H at 18 mos old.

Both fillies look like they will mature at about 16.2H.

Wally has been bred to a LOT of TB and TB cross mares successfully.

Anyone have any good stallion suggestions for this girl? I now own her and am open to suggestions.

No idea, but I’m hoping you will post pix of this mare. Seeing the color listed as sabino chestnut, yes. Do you know what happened with the first poster. Did she breed the mare.

This mare has a FANTASTIC pedigree. Was she ever approved by one of the Warmblood registries?

What are you trying to produce? Hunter, Eventer, Jumper?

A cool match in terms of Warmblood breeding would be Mannhattan. He’s a wonderful versatile boy (I’m biased… I have a 4 year old mare by him who is fantastic… great mover, great jumper, great brain).

His direct sire line goes back to Precipitation, just like your mare. He is linebred to Furioso II, so has 2 lines to Precipitation. I believe he crosses very nicely on TB mares as well… And you have a NICE TB mare.

Anyway… Multiple lines to Precipitation? Nothing wrong with that whatsoever!

Otherwise… Your girl might produce a wonderful eventing prospect if matched with a nice Irish Sport Horse.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
