TB pedigree

Just wanted to see what you guys think of my boy’s pedigree. Plan on using him as an event horse. Also, any general comments would be great too!

Not sure if the link above will work, if not his name is Strawberry Amour.

I’m not personally familiar with Black Tie Affair but I know people who have really liked their offspring of his. Al Hattab is a great line for sport and Hopespringseternal was a VERY influential mare in the racing industry. Strawberry Road, if I recall correctly, is a great line for soundness. I believe Crimson Satan/Papila is a good sound line as well?

Pleasant Colony is a well-known popular event horse line, as is Key to the Mint. I think Tom Rolfe was a popular sire for hunters back in the day? I have some sort of mental note about Pocahontas, but I can’t remember what it is. I’m so helpful. Not.

Round Table was a good jumping line as well.

I like his pedigree a lot. I’d love to see pictures and hear more about what he is like. He certainly wasn’t a slouch on the track, either with 25 starts, earnings over $140k and multiple stakes placings.

Oops. Duplicate post.

Pocahontas–dam of Chieftain and Tom Rolfe; second dam of Embros and Alzao, Barrera and Codex. Owned by Raymond Guest and was used to breed both here and in the UK/Ire. Chieftain was Shaab’s damsire. That same daughter produced another stallion, Trampler, who got a horse who finished both Badminton and Burghley as well as a horse who won a couple of events with Pippa Funnell 20 years ago. Chieftain is way back in Calico Joe. And he is the grandsire on top of Likoto, who has sired jumping, dressage, and event horses in Germany. His son Licotus is said to have done GP dressage.

Tom Rolfe is also an excellent line for sport, given that, among about twenty others with sport descendants, he sired Hoist The Flag, who is the damsire of Mytens. Mytens stood in Holland and sired two 1.60 show jumpers, Mighty Magic, and a PSG/Intermediare dressage horse–along with a whole slew of horses in all disciplines at lower levels.

Her son War Hawk II was sent to NZ, and he is damsire of a NZ FEI level dressage horse.

Pocohontas is a darned good TB line for sport. What’s interesting to me is that she seems to be in the pedigrees of a whole bunch of dressage horses. There’s a mare called Select Royal here who did dressage and is being used for dressage breeding, but I’ve forgotten her name. She had only nine foals, and four of them are in sport horse lines.

Oh wow! Thank you so much, I am thrilled to hear all of this. I am hoping to take him as far as we can go one day  His barn name is Parker, and he is a liver chestnut, with beautiful coloring. He is an AWESOME mover, and is so willing. He is also a really great jumper. Here are some photos of him. He has only been jumping for about a month, so we’re keeping everything small. Also, please excuse the low quality pictures, they never turn out well when I take them in the indoor

I have plenty more pictures if you want to see more

Can we please make this thread a sticky and post TB pedigree queries here all the time?

Thoughts on these 2?

Both have been let down and are in re-training now, showing a lot of promise in different ways
