Does anyone have any experience with Candy Ride offspring? Or anything close to the same line? Just want some input on temperament, athletic ability, etc.
Funny you should ask. We board, foal and raise TBs for clients and ourselves. We have foaled, raised and broke several Candy Rides. They have been well made with good minds and enjoyable to work with. Which is one of the reasons he is a leading sire and stands for $40,000. http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/stallions/119326/candy-ride-arg
We have a 4 year old chestnut filly by Candy Ride out of an Include mare that is free to a good home. We foaled raise and I personally broke her. She was probably the easiest to of the group of the 2 year olds I broke that year. She was trotting in cantering figure 8s about a week after being backed. She is a pretty mover IMO. I told the owner that if she should not make it as a race horse he should have no problem finding her a home as pleasure/sport horse. Though that’s not really what a racing person wants to hear with a 2 year old. Well, I thought see showed decent talent and went to the race track in the fall of her 2 year old year. She had several good works from the get go but then things went down hill. She made 1 start at 2 and basically walked out of the gate. The owner is a good guy and sent her back to us to work with in December. She went back to the track, a training center actually, in the late spring with an old school trainer who cater to her with lots of patients. She made her second start in late summer and did pretty good. But her next start was not much so we did not press the matter by dropping her cheap. And came back to us in I think November. She was tucked up like a greyhound. They owner didn’t want to put any more money into her so she has just been turned out with mares and maiden mares put on weight. She has not been saddled since. Though we plan to fool with her shortly at our expense and then advertise. If anybody has any interest please get on to me.
I sold Candy Ride’s sire to Argentina, Ride the Rails. He was a nice horse to work around from what I understand. And had a very pleasant disposition when I visited with him on my trips to Argentina.
