Ted Flowers Saddle?

Hi, I just recently purchased a saddle that I think might be a Ted Flowers. I’m in Indiana, so it might be possible. There are no makers marks that I can find besides a “599”. The tooling is amazing, definitely someone who knew what they were doing. I’m surprised someone would go to all this work and just put a 599, but then read Ted Flowers usually didn’t mark his saddles. The saddle is in overall good condition but could definitely use a cleaning. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for time. Pictures can be seen here…http://imgur.com/a/6pXQ4

Did you check the skirt’s tooling for any maker’s marks? I’ve seen several Triangle T saddles that have no markings other than a tiny stamp in the tooling on the skirt. I always scour the tooling if there are no obvious marks.

Looks like a very nice older type saddle, light low moose swells, white buck-stitching went out of style about the 1970’s, I think.
Strange it doesn’t has a logo or name over the number?

Those older saddles are very nice and tended to fit horses well.
Compared with today’s saddles, they tend to be heavier and put you up on the horse more than today’s, that are more snug on the horse’s back, more close contact.

We have several similar to that one, but are Windy Ryon ones.

The tooling is so nice on the older saddles, is it.

Hi Dani, thanks for the reply. I didn’t see any markings on the skirt. On one side there is a small rectangle box that looks like the perfect place to put a maker’s mark but it is blank.

Hi Bluey, thanks for the reply. The part of the saddle with the 599 is definitely the most worn part, maybe 50 years ago you could read the mark and now it’s worn off??? Thanks for all your help with this, it’s greatly appreciated.
