Thoughts on how old this horse is? He is a potential purchase.
I’m no expert, but I’d say younger than 7, older than 4. AND I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m wrong. I’m no help, really.
i wanted to knock that nasty piece of plaque off his lower canine. Ick!
Yea I know, it blew me away when I saw it. Trust me if I purchase him (very very likely unless the general consensus is over 20) dentist visit is very much in his future.
No idea, but I would guess at 9-11 years .
Since Galvayne’s groove is already present and well developed, I would guess well over 10, perhaps closer to 13. The arch of the teeth is already significant. You took no photos of the occlusal surfaces, the centers of which change shape as time goes on.
I am fairly new at gauging but I estimated him between 10-12 when comparing the pictures and diagrams. I can try to get pictures of his occlusal surfaces, and the other side of his mouth, this weekend if I see him. He wasn’t very cooperative last time about it and I had no help.
Just bottom teeth or top too?
ETA: Mouth wise my 23 y/o mare had better looking teeth than he does. I am very sure it is diet related considering what he is fed. (you don’t want to know, and if you do PM me please)
I would guess between 15-18 (maybe older) and fed a bad high sugar diet with that build up. I would get a PPE with an xray($80-200 cost) of his head to see what else you may have hiding in there. If his molars are anything like the fronts you may be in for some huge vet bills extracting teeth

I’m in the 10+ camp as well based on the groove, maybe edging to the teenage mark?
This is one of the better aging by teeth charts I’ve seen, even if it is on a mini site:

I’d say your guy is 10-12, there’s no hook on the last upper yet.
According to my papered 14 yo that is a very good chart. Of course this horse always reads the book.
It would put the horse in question at about 12-14.
