Tekna Synthetic Open Fronts - Anyone have these?

I’ve been looking at these:

for a while now, as they would be nice for schooling boots that I can just hose off. I ride a 15.3 Shire X gelding who notoriously does not fit in the usual full size boot. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Do they fit big/small? He has wide legs and is currently a bit feathery, but sometimes boots are a bit too tall and still too narrow for him.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for very large size open front boots? I saw a thread on here ages ago regarding this, and couldn’t find much locally or within budget (<$150 CAD)

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have them in black. They wear really well, and clean up nice. I like that they are low maintenance and I can hose them off after a sweaty ride. I have a 16hh Appendix who also wears the mediums, and they fit well. There are grooves inside the front boots that are supposed to help support the tendons.

They look nice enough for open shows (if you plan to show in them) but I wouldn’t take them to anything rated… they definitely look synthetic.

I have them and love them. They look brand new and you can’t kill them. That being said, you can tell they’re not leather.

I have them in brown. I have a 16.2hh OTTB with finer legs. I got medium, and they fit him REALLY well. He does sweat in them (not super well ventilated) so that’s my only complaint. I take very bad care of mine, and they still look brand new.

They do look synthetic and not super expensive/fancy, but for $35 it’s def. worth it.

I have the cob size in black. I got them originally for my 15 hand Connemara with decent bone and now use them with my 14.1 hand Connemara who has finer legs.

Thank you everyone for your advice, it has all been really helpful! I decided to order them today. Worst case scenario, I can just re-sell them if they don’t work for my boy.

I have the model with the tab closure instead of the velcro. The full size fits my 16.1 1/2 hand TB (thicker boned) well, they look good, and are low-maintenance. I really like them.

I have a Perch/TB cross that is difficult to find boots for. I bought these and the hind boots in Large and they are amazing! Bought them four years ago and they’ve held up extremely well. I have the brown and think they look great even for shows, but I use them whenever for schooling or clinics. They fit great - sometimes the Large is too big/sloppy and mediums are always too small, so I was thrilled when they fit my goon great. Hope they work out for you!
