Tell me about iron in a horse's diet!

Ugh… Hoping the unapproved essay I just wrote appears soon because I’m not writing that again

This is such an interesting thread. Thank you, all.

Doesn’t that drive you crazy?? Has happened to me a couple of times now.

PM Mod1 and ask them to approve. Might take a couple days, but otherwise I don’t know if they regularly go approve those, and I’m pretty sure they don’t get auto-approved

I’m considering adding this to my metabolic horses diet : https://yuccitup.com/collections/feed-toppers/products/hay-harmony?variant=30270183735343

I just got around to testing my well water at the barn. The water runs through a softener and I still need to add a filter to the hydrant. I pretty much need to double the amount of copper and zinc I’m already giving them.

I am no expert, but I was very interested in the iron overload issue, and interviewed three experts (Eleanor Kellon, VMD, Dr. David Ramey, DVM, and Laura S. Worden, MSc.) on the topic a while back. Their responses are on my blog (link below).
Hope it helps!

Jebabacus that is a fantastic interview series. Thank you for sharing that! Having read the works of two of the three, it certainly demonstrated their philosophical approach and ideologies very clearly. I appreciated the explanations provided.
