My mom and I are planning to go watch next Wed as a treat for my birthday. (Also sort of knocking another big show off the visit bucket list). Anything in particular we need to be sure to see? Unique vendors specific to PA Nat? Thanks!
There are usually three different vendor areas. One in the walkway on either side of the ingate, one in the open area next to the indoor schooling area by the main ring, and the walkway all around the ring above the first section of seats. There are often a couple of vendors set up in the barn area as well.
I don’t know if any of them are unique to that show, but there are usually plenty of shopping options.
Have fun! And happy birthday!!
Generally Harrisburg advice has to conclude with: “Be prepared to hang on with one hand and clap with the other!”
Also, if you have any boots that need a serious polish, the shoe shine man there is a master magician. He is usually set up near the chute by the ingate.
Thanks, guys! What about parking? Looking at Google Maps, it looks like we need to turn onto Wildwood Park Dr from Cameron St to get into the lot? I’ve been to the Farm Show Complex once before but years ago and for a different event. Thanks again.
Yes, if you are coming North up Cameron you pass the buildings before you make a left at the light. Stay in the left lane and make the first left in the lot. Drive as close as you can to the older part of the building (south). On Wednesday it won’t be crowded and you likely can just walk in through the stabling area and up on of the ramps to the coliseum seating after you cruise the ground floor vendors. Enjoy!
Update. There are no vendors this year in the pedestrian walkway around the main ring, other than a food stand or two.
The vendors are in the space next to the schooling area for the main ring, and a couple are also in the barn area.
Thanks for all the help & suggestions, guys! We had a good trip yesterday and your info was right on.
