This is probably a silly question, but can someone please explain SOURCE to me? I know it’s made of seaweed and has lots of micronutrients in it, what exactly is in it, and why do you feed it?
I see improved hoof quality/growth with this supplement + a shinier coat. It is not a “complete” vit/min supplement, but for many horses good hay/pasture + Source would be a fine diet.
I consider it to be fairly similar to Hilton’s Hoof and Health, although that has some extra herbal goodies in it.
I don’t use it.
But many years ago - mid 80s - when it first came out, I do recall all the horses being fed Source had the shiniest coats.

Now I get the same effect using BOSS - which is a helluva lot cheaper.

Horrible unregulated “supplement” that often has such high levels of iodine that the horse have metabolic problems.
Looked it up, it’s another seaweed formula. I was feeding a kelp powder for a while, but when I did a bit of basic education in nutrition and overhauled my feeding, i dropped the kelp because I couldn’t see what it was doing other than extra iodine, and I was already getting plenty in the vitamin/mineral supplement. I didn’t change much in my feeding regimen, which turned out to be pretty good overall (I learned it from my coach), but I did drop the kelp.
