Cross-posting from over at the eventing forum: there’s a chance my work might require me to relocate to St. Louis, and I’m wondering what the area might be like for someone with three dogs, a horse, and a love of BN- to Novice-level eventing, hunter paces and hunting, and trail riding. Any boarding barns in the area that you all would recommend? Local eventing, hunting, and trail-riding opportunities? I’d love to hear about them!
Bridlespur Hunt is in the Saint Louis area. They’ve been around for quite a long time.
I’m guessing you have a trailer so you can travel. We do have some great places to ride, but in most cases there isn’t a stable nearby. Exception is the stable across from Queeny Park, can’t remember the name at 6 am! There is a big event at Queeny every year. The barn across from Queeny is hunter/jumper, don’t know about dressage there. There are Hunter paces and shows in the area, too. When I am more awake I’ll look up that barn name.
I’m pretty sure it’s called Pegasus Equestrian Center. Very nice barn, no turn out though (unless you call the chat runs out front turn out).
That’s right, I’d forgotten that name. And you are right about the turn outs. But it has Queeny Park to ride in, which is cool. I did a search for barns earlier, a d Lake St. Louis Stable, which is close to the National Equestrian Center, might be another possibility.
Thank you all! This is great information!
