Tell me about Touch Gold and Pleasant Tap

My mare is by Lido Palace, of whom I’ve heard good things about siring a good hunter brain and movement. So far she has proven to be very sensible and handles potentially spooky situations in stride. I’ve had some upper level event riders comment about how easy she is to work with. She also has very nice and tidy knees when she jumps.

She also has touch gold and pleasant tap in her pedigree on her dam side. I’ve not heard as much said about them outside of racing. Anyone knOw something about those guys?

Not very helpful, but I am nearly always keeping an eye out for a Touch Gold mare. He is dreamy, and I have seen quite a few of his kids that I liked quite a bit, at least conformationally.

I don’t know much about Touch Gold but really like Pleasant Tap for sport horses…a.tend to be tall, sensible with a good jump. They do tend to be pretty slow to matures.

I have a Pleasant Tap daughter who made MMB Hanoverian and was selected for the Jumper Breeding Program. Very good sport/peformance lines. She has been evented successfully through training level and also done very well in straight show jumping and dressage.

We have a lovely retired steeplechase mare in our breeding program who is by Pleasant Tap. She won for Kinross Farm before she came to us, and she is a beautiful mover. We have had a bit of trouble getting her pregnant, mostly near misses. I told her if she isn’t pregnant by April, she is going to her Auntie Sharon’s to be sold so we’ll see if that works…

I will post pics when I get some uploaded to
the web

you are right about the damside. The sire side is eh OK for sporthorses. Mr.P (folks have mixed feelings about him) and back in the 5th generation you have What A Pleasure and Damascus…but it’s not nearly as strong as the damside pedigree.

I’m curious where she might be getting her very clean and tidy jump from. Also for her size (15:2) she has a very nice stride. Her long strided walk seems like it comes from a much bigger horse.
