Those are basic working horse foundation lines, that are good workman type horses, you can do most anything with them.
Many of those are sought after by rodeo performance event riders, because they tend to have a steady temperament, if maybe are not quite as athletic as more modern lines can be.
There is a trade-off at times between a horse with a big motor and living with that, or one that is, lets say, less ambitious but you can do most anything with ease, without needing to “cowboy up” to them.
There is much to be said for that quiet, calm mind those lines generally bring to the table.
Thank you!! They definitely inherited what they’re known for, then. Zana is a good all around mare with reining foundations (though they never finished her in it as she was too slow lol). She has an incredible mind - I use her for lessons and trust 3 year olds to ride her. Between lessons, reining, trails, or just pleasure riding she is great for it all.
Little Joe is only 3 and I’ve had him only a couple months, but the reason I bought him was for his temperament. I’ve known him since he was a yearling, and he was always so willing and accepting regarding new things. As a two year old, my husband (a horse trainer) could ride him bareback and bridleless in the outdoor ring.
Thank you so much for your insight!!!
