Temptations! or kitty crack

I have 3 cats, 2 of them I love dearly. The third one just grimly hangs on. Anyway, my favorite, Dickens, is not really a lap cat. He will come by but has never been a cat to nest on my lap. Puddin does however, and Bug will swing by to sit on my shoulder. But that has changed.

My niece got an extra case of temptations from friskies or who ever makes them, so she gave me a couple for the cats. OMG they have gone nuts for them, so I ordered a 1 lb container from Chewy. It was soon demolished. Dickens now hovers nearby, and occasionally walks across my keyboard, just to say ‘how do, and by the way do you have any more temptations?’ The other two are curious, but not obsessed. Dickens is obsessed. I spread some out on a small cutting board on the little table by the lap top. Dickens actually gobbles them down in a hurry. Bug was sharing the board, but eating much more slowly, and it was as if Dickens was afraid he wouldn’t get enough. they didn’t come to blows, but Bug soon gave up. Puddin will not approach if the other two are near so she misses out. I have tried to set some out for her, but she is more worried that the other two are near than not getting her temptations. Cats are crazy people!

I am convinced their reputation as “kitty crack” is founded on actual drugs inside them. My older guy is notoriously picky to the point that sometimes I feel like I’m begging him to eat. The expensive wet food I bought him? Doesn’t want it unless I put a few Temptations on top. He also doesn’t like anything that isn’t fish flavored
except Temptations. Chicken, beef - he doesn’t care. He just wants them!

I know they’re not the most nutritionally balanced thing in the world but I’m grateful they help me get some groceries in my picky guy!

It’s like the ad in my house. I can’t even open the container and I have all my cats at my feet shrieking for them. Like they are starving. I can’t get them in their heads fast enough. Two of them are actually biting my fingers they are so obsessed.

Jack is so obsessed that he will go seeking them out and has found the hidden box and gotten it out and they ate the entire box. Twice. Idiots. The new box is in the fridge.

I have 6 cats. Five are addicted to Temptations, sixth is “meh”. Amazon had 30 oz containers on Black Friday at $11 each. I bought 12. Every day at 5 PM I take certain medications for which I have an alarm set and we do “kitty cookies” at that time. It’s a mad rush to see who gets to the various feeding areas. I do have to feed certain ones separately from the others, but everybody gets their pile of Temptations.

I will warn you, however, that the new “trout” flavor results in incredibly stinky poops
we won’t be buying that one again. Luckily it was a small container I picked up at Dollar General and I haven’t seen it since, so maybe it’s been discontinued for just that reason.

:pouting_cat::pouting_cat: My 2 vote “Meh” on Temptations.

They are also not fans of any of the canned foods I’ve tried.
Price & flavor immaterial.
They may try it one day, then the next it goes untouched :persevere:
And with one a past sufferer & Poster Kitty for FIC, I need to get some wet in him.

I dispense 3 or 4 Temptations in their bowls, next to the bowls of kibbles (Iams Urinary - the only “prescription” diet acceptable :smirk_cat:). They do get eaten, but not nommed.

Lately FIC-ish Kitty has decided the lickable tube foods are edible.
Fancy Feast or Delectables are being eagerly consumed in teeny squeezes < like 1/4tsp.
I may temp fate & squeeze more in the bowls :crossed_fingers:
