Tennessee Walking Horse Soring Issue *Update post 1*

Once the dust settles, he really needs to be recognized by the TWH for his involvement.

I know this is going to sound corny - but Roy is a good example of why pundits need to be a part of any big or important national dialogue. They know how to make a point, but more so they know how to pound it and expound on it as the case may need.

They are also tireless.

And if you are lucky - you get a good one like Roy on your side.

He sure is getting to the heart of the matter.

And he is unyielding.

My God. Roy is the best thing ever to happen to the TWH.

Ever.
Sooo true!!! Been trying to think of some way to thank him after the dust settles. Maybe a plaque with the BL with a cross through it with an appropriate thank you from the horses, dinner for him and his wife at very nice restaurant, something. What’cha think?

The State Fair board made a great decision to showcase sound horses at this kick-off show. Sign of good things happening in Tennessee !

New NWHA show!
Tennessee State Fair Walking Horse Show - Sept 8- 6PM. 30 classes, Nashville, TN- State Fairgrounds.
They have built a new show arena under the lights. TWH have not shown at the state fair since the old show arena burned in the 60’s.

He truly is. It is really happening isnt it ? The demise of Big Lick. In our lifetime !
Yep. The Lickers attempts to defend their sick tradition appear feeble, what has worked in the past simply won’t fly now. Thank God.

I think a sponsorship of a Roy Exum Perpetual Trophy class with NWHA might be a good thing to consider.

That’s a good idea Hurley!

Question. Have the Vet groups actually called Big Lick abuse? Since abuse in now a felony in Tenn. Can the management and owners of the arena where the Celebration is being held be charged with aiding in the act of a felony? I’m sure the insurance underwriters would be interested in that possibility…

Wow CFFARM - good question ! I will forward it on to Roy and see what he can do with it.

when folks can’t stand the heat they get out of the Kitchen, seems like its fryin time in Shelbyville, could ole doc Meadows and Mullins get their LIC suspended.

its call the owners of the Arena time, to ask that question and let them do some sweatin,if this gets much hotter they may just cancel the Celebration.

all the TWH folks will go to Nashville in Sept.

and another QUESTION when a horse is sored and they get (owners)violations.they just CHANGE the horses name.whats with this the violation doesn’t follow the horse. the horse is already scared,so what good is a Name change.

i’m going to call the OHIO STATE BAPTIST office give them some Chapter and Verse.

Changing a horse’s name in most registries is NOT a small thing. IIRC, under TWHBEA rules, you can’t change the name of a horse once they have offspring. This is certainly true of mares and I believe it is true of stallions.

“Sham” transfers are another story. They are, from all reports, not uncommon.

Remember, too, that TWHBEA uses a DNA based registration system. This makes registration “shenanigans” difficult, also. We’ll not likely see another “Mo Town Magic scam.”

I’ve known Dr. Meadows for some years and always respected his judgement and equine knowledge. I’m disappointed that he seems to have lost his moral/ethical bearings.

so if you have a 2007/8 colt named Gen’s Magic Prescription as long as he is not used to STUD,DNA not meaning anything, you can change his name to I’M
COPPERFIELD. and TWHBEA doesn’t care, does the reg # stay the same or do they change it too. So if this horse has HPA violations its harder to connect the dots,so could this be the reason for the name change.

sounds like a game of COVER my A** so i can keep my HLS GSA Cert:

There have been no horse shows or exhibitions at the TN State Fair since 1962 because the show arena and barns burned in 1963. I am putting together the Arabian Horse exhibition for Wed night 9/12 6:30 and 8:30 pm at the fair.

You pointing out this walkingsound? Looks like someone is throwing down for sure.

I suppose Mr Gipson will be setting aside some pocket change for his agent’s admission fees at the up coming stacking soiree. Or maybe HSUS will get 'em some box seats?

Lordy lordy. Don’t mess with Chester. He is one that is in it for the long haul for sure.

Lets hope his diligence pays off.

maybe they need a PRESS PASS.or a BADGE.

when they(show managememnt) make the USDA Inspectors pay than they (SM) have something to HIDE.

Yes Hurley, that plus the list of suspensions and other good info on the site. I believe Dr. Gibson is in it for the long haul. An end to “chains and pain” in my lifetime unfolding before my eyes! It’s happening! Praise God!!!

I have no idea whether or not what you propose is legit or not. I just quoted you the rule as it was when I had Walkers.
