Terranova-Lauren Nicholson what happened?

She’s pretty good on a reiner too!

I can’t imagine why putting sand or dish soap into a horse’s mouth would stop them from grinding their teeth

Then again, I guess the sand is for covering up blood?

So you know everyone, absolutely everyone who rides all around at western shows? It’s been a few years because of either lack of funds or lack of horse, but I used to show the local western shows and the same equivalent level at hunter shows and often came home with more ribbons from the hunter shows, using the same tack and clothing I wore at the western shows for the english classes. Some of use aren’t the clueless wonders you make us out to be.

If you actually read the post thoroughly, you would see that it does NOT refer to EVERY rider.

It says that the riders who do as you do are often notable, because they aren’t common.

I have to say, whatever is going into horse’s mouths must have some experience behind it. Otherwise a massive amount of head-shaking is likely to be on display. I’m not sure that even a very physically strong rider could hold a head hard enough to stop any sign of it. Plus get a performance.

I get how some of these abusive practices are supposed to work. And maybe the horses are desensitized to reacting as part of their harsh training.

What matters most, though, is that abuses are being observed at some level. And that officials who are on the grounds at the time and could establish for certain that the abuse has occurred, somehow are not doing that. Either due to lack of reporting, or due to indifference to reports.

Agree. But we only see what we only see. We think of UK and Ireland as eventing and show jumping but there’s world of hunters, which are judged differently than in the US, and some classes have the judge or a pro rider ride each horse (or I guess the top horses) to determine final placings. And then we have breed specific shows which sometimes don’t jive with what we think A QH English Hunter is not what we would think as a hunter, Ireland and UK have “hunter” shows which have a different standard of judging - and have weight - light, medium and heavyweight hunters…
I recall in my tack shopgirl days a gal recently switched from showing Western to hunters. Western is so much more involved with turnout/outfits etc. This woman wanted to buy a new jacket and shirt for each class because that’s what she did in the Western world. She had a hard time understanding that she didn’t need a new shirt or jacket for the U/S and O/F classes haha

And eleventy-seven hunter braids isn’t obsessive turnout?

That was another great one.

And then didn’t she hop on the horse herself and make it look like a piece of cake? Even though she was quite pregnant at the time? I think she had the baby just a couple of weeks later, if that, and I was amazed by that news.

And then I think she turned up on the sidelines with the baby and the two younger kids at some show or event or something very shortly after that.

I’m guessing she must be a force to be reckoned with, between dealing with Boyd and the three young kids and her dressage business. That sounds like a lot. Lol.

Yes, I loved that video.

And Boyd did quite well riding her dressage horse, he just struggled with the one tempis. He managed the two tempis just fine.

And then the very pregnant Silva got on the horse and banged out a bunch on one tempis like it was nothing.

Does anyone have a link to a recording of this? I’d LOVE to see it!

Thanks for finding that video. It was hilarious.

Looking at the dates on their Facebook posts, she had that baby 12 days later! :open_mouth:

And look at him go now.

If you would please post a link to the video of the Blumans and Peter Wylde I’d like to see it. Facebook is uncooperative since I’m not a member, but I can sometimes get in with a link.

The dressage rider, who should get bonus points, in my opinion. The link to her video is in this article:

Thank you very much for taking the time @MHM. The videos were fun.

Bluman saying “I wasn’t aiming” was very funny.

A friend of mine has met Boyd’s social media manager, who says that Boyd is pretty much exactly like how he comes across in the videos. And apparently the hardest part of filming the videos is getting Boyd to stay in one place long enough, or something like that. I believe Silva is also pretty much exactly as she comes across in videos.
