While I agree with the posts about trying to change pony’s association with vets, you may want to try the sedative gel on the gums again. I assume it was Dorm gel. I have used it with my mare and it is a little bit of a trick to use it correctly.
First, you do have to get it under the tongue, which can be difficult if your pony doesn’t cooperate. If it goes over the tongue and gets swallowed, it doesn’t work at all. A second set of hands to hold pony while you have two hands to negotiate the syringe and keep the tongue out of the way should do it.
Second, I believe the box says it takes 30-45 minutes to take effect. With my mare, it takes a solid hour and the difference in level of sedation between minute 45 and minute 60 is significant.
Also, you could try Ace in tablet form.
