Tex Tan Endurance Saddle vs. Tucker equitation endurance saddle??

I am looking for a trail saddle for my QH/TB mare, who is more QH than TB- .

I ride English but am looking for something more comfortable and suited for trails than my dressage saddle.

I have been looking at the Tucker Equitation endurance saddle as well as the Tex Tan Flex endurance saddle. I really like the English rigging and seat on the Tucker, but am concerned about it fitting my horse as i have read that there are some horses it doesn’t fit well. Also in my search for a used one, there are a lot more saddles that are all but new available. I have been able to sit in one in store.

The Tex Tan endurance has the flex panels, which I think might be better for my horse. it looks really close contact and i am not sure it is very comfortable for a several hour trail ride.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated!

I would definately suggest finding someone you know who has a Tucker and trying the fit out. Tuckers do fit a bit differently. There is measuring/fiting guidance, I believe, on Tucker’s website.

I have a Tucker Plantation, and love it! Really comfy saddle, that works well on my extra wide, shark withered horse.

I just bought an Alleghany Trail Saddle - it is their Renegade Endurance saddle but I added a horn to it. It does have the gel set in it and it is as comfortable as a my Aussie Saddle (I loved my Aussie but it didn’t fit my horse).

I was sent out saddle fit forms and took many pictures of my horse with and without the various forms. They custom fit my horse and the saddle was hand made. It fits Biscuit very well and I find the leather very soft and comfortable. It has beautiful hardware on it and they were wonderful to deal with.

All in all, I am thrilled with my new saddle and it costs considerably less than a Tucker!

I second the “try a Tucker” suggestion. I just created a thread tonight about how a Tucker plantation saddle fit my mare. It just doesn’t seem “right”. I am used to nothing but Circle Y flex trees, and the Tucker definitely fits different! They are super comfortable, but too pricey not to fit perfect. I am so close to going treeless it’s not EVEN funny! I have had good luck with flex trees fitting hard to fit horses (most of the time).

Since I’ve sat in the Tucker River Plantation for a few hours, I really have my heart set on one. I just hope I can get that perfect fit for my horse…and I don’t think the one I am using now is it.

jazzrider, with your extra wide horse, do you use an extra wide Tucker? Just curious! Thanks!
