Thank goodness for fleece and flannel lined jeans.

Neither will win any fashion awards and the baggy fleece are the warmest of my collection. Don’t know about riding in either, but oh my goodness, warm. Stay cozy. Also I can give a shout out for LE squall parkas.

I live in line jeans all winter. Best things ever invented! Fleece long underwear, too.

Yes to fleece long undies. I look like that kid in Christmas movie. God forbid nature calls. But holy moly.

As long as we’re talking warm stuff. The old navy frost free vests are really a good find. Fleece lined. Cheap right now too.and for the homestead, bed bath beyond, insulated sheers WORK. summer and winter.

last night and today were the kind of temps where only full carhartts will do. Was -15, -30 windchill at morning feeding, and we hit a lofty high of -5 today. I kinda shortcutted my layers when going out for evening feeding, thinking I’d just toss hay and be done. Uh-huh. Found a frozen hose and ended up out there for an hour and had the beginning of frostbite on my cheeks.

The problem is if you aren’t moving (like hunched over frozen water spigot). I did manage to get a run in this afternoon and was totally comfortable in far lighter clothing.

where do you find these lined jeans?

I am a big fan of winter riding breeches. I just got 2 pairs from Dover last week. I just can not put into words how happy i was about that. I live in the things till April. And they are so much more cozy for me than jeans. I actually whine when I have to go out in public, because I take them off, and put on jeans. If its super cold out, I put wind pants on over them.

However lined jeans are so much better than regular jeans in the winter.

Knightrider, you can find lined jeans at LL Bean, Duluth, Carhartt.

I suggest not-jeans, usually cargo pants. Denim tends to be cold.

Love my fleece-lined jeans. I have a few pair, (Schmitt, LL Bean). Actually, I found all mine at Goodwill. Shhh.

My favorite lined jeans are the cabelas ones

I used to love the old flannel lined jeans I bought from my father’s L.L. Bean catalogue. Hmm, wonder if they still sell them?

I’ve been wearing the tropical rider winter tights. for riding. So very warm in cold weather.

I have bought a few from eBay. The ll bean fleece lined I got from eBay but in summer so cheaper. They are too long but I can roll or cut off and stitch. If you have sewing machine, you can too. Make sure you use a leather or denim needle. Boston trader brand has some cool cargo ones, eBay, too. I’d wear them out. I just now got a pair of CH flannel lined wheat jeans. 18 and 12 shipping.

First I want to say that -15, carharts will not do the job and it’s best to just become a hibernating animal at that temperature. Still amazed at some of you and the ability you have to endure the cold.

Anyway, it’s been very cold for our liking here in TN and the wonderful world of Facebook informed me I’m doing winter wrong! I wore a pair of fleece lined leggings under fleece lined breeches and complained of still being cold. My lovely northern friends said that fleece was not going to keep me warm in the 15* temps we were having. I figure flannel is in that same category? Why does flannel work for y’all?! Isn’t it made of cotton too? They said that was a no go! My base layer should be silk or something of the like (my under armor shirt is the material they were referring to. Wore it today. Toasty as a marshmallow in a fire!) I haven’t gone shopping yet for my winter wardrobe yet, so point me in the right direction!! To stay warm today I wore the UA shirt, UA fleece lined jacket, and my big warm winter coat that would make a naked mole rat sweat in Antarctica on top, a scarf, my riding sport under helmet head thing, and an ear band on top of that. For my lower half I did pantyhose under fleece lined breeches (trainer told me that worked as a kid. Haven’t done it in years so I thought I’d give it a go) and my ski pants! I was fine. Fingers and toes need some help. Not sure what to put there, but regular thick socks and thinsulate gloves don’t cut it when it’s 20* and below!! What are my riding friendly options? I don’t know how safe I would feel riding my horse in ski pants! My leg is good, but it’s not that good!!!

I buy the LL Bean polar fleece lined jeans for winter. The denim breaks the wind and the fleece provides the insulating layer.

You can add additional under-layers for those of you working in the arctic climes, but I’m found that just the lined jeans are good to about 0F. I have not tried the flannel-lined jeans.
