Thank you, British dressage team

Yeah, the Germans are brilliant riders and they kicked a$$ and took names in eventing. They are our eventing overlords. We are not worthy. I get it.

But I am so grateful that the Brits are rocking dressage. Having the Germans sweep the equestrian events would be like sitting through the Yankees winning the world series 5 years in a row.

Again, thanks, Brits.

Spot on LoriB… Having lived a British expat life in New England for 25-odd years, I appreciate your post on oh-so-many levels! (course we’d better not think too much about the German roots/connections of the British dressage team, but we have plenty of practice in ignoring those kinds of inconvenient geneologies over here in England!)

Ah yes, but Germany has a secret weapon in Eventing, his name is Christopher Bartle, who not only won Badminton, but also did very well competing internationally in Dressage. AND, he’s a Brit!

I would like to thank them for showing how beautiful dressage can be when there is harmony between horse and rider. I can’t wait for the freestyles!

And who STILL holds the record for highest placed Brit in Olympic dressage (6th on Wily Trout in 1984) which will hopefully be broken this year

Ah Wily Trout:), the eventer turned GP horse with one of the world’s best piaffes…
“…he was an argybargy sort…the only way you could stop him then was to run him into the side of a barn…”

 good times

I always cheer for the Brits - and happy to see them doing so well in front of the home crowd.

OP, I do have to disagree with you about the Germans “kicking ass” in eventing.
They won Gold in both Team and Individual, yes, but I don’t think that means they kicked ass.

You should thank Wilfred Bechtolsheimer.

definitely yes

So glad ;):lol:to see the Brits on top!

I’m becoming more and more fond of the british teams (how awesome were nicola and zara in xc?) as the games continue

… have I posted on too many topics tonight??

I really hope to see them come out on top.

Thank you, Mr. Bechtolsheimer.

Yes, that is what dressage should be. I am so tired of all those horses with their noses on their chests, they seem so unhappy and who can blame them. I always cheer for the Brits, especially in eventing, in fact I prefer them to my own US teams.

Agree- and I am so proud to be a Brit right now! They did a lovely job.
