I never thought I would agree with George Morris when he commented on event riders’ turnout but her attire does distract from the horse. It’s disrespectful, not to the sport or the judges but to the horse.
I think that is a really big step you took there. I’m guessing horsie could not possibly care less.
I’d even say I bet the horsie is thrilled at all the extra attention from seemingly nowhere
This has to be satire, right?
I don’t think anyone is making the leap to consider this pattern a Purina pattern. Now, maybe if it was 9 squares only, it may make a difference. There were checkerboard patterns well before Purina started using it as a logo/trademark. Now, if it was a Nike swoosh mark, then that’s a different story, but simple squares is not going to be patented.
The Purina logo isn’t an all over pattern such as this so no. If The Chess and Checker Players Federation exists it has nothing to do with horses so also no.
I really doubt there will be a sudden rush of riders clipping logos or extreme clip jobs on their horses.
I dunno. I wonder if now that the floodgate has been opened, we will start seeing a lot of fancy clip jobs on horses. Granted, none of these appear to be dressage horses but they look pretty cool. There are also some gorgeous clip jobs here.

I had a conversation about THE clip job with the TD at a show this weekend and it was refreshing to hear that he was all for riders having a little more fun - whether that was manifested in fun clip designs, creative boots, embrace of the attire rules, etc. I agree…and have decided if showing isn’t fun, why do it. I don’t ride the caliber of horse that Fie does…and I’m not a pro…but I’ve had a blast going down center line on my chestnut giraffe, my little grey dragon with JRR Tolkien’s monogram clipped on his butt, and my toaster-sporting 2nd/3rd level horse named Pop Tarrt
Those wings are gorgeous!
Beautiful wings. Nice giraffe as well.
Oh the toaster! How FUN!
These are so cool! I’m in love with the giraffe clip. It looks so snazzy!
The horse looks less than thrilled though.
I’m betting that her horse doesn’t read this forum and doesn’t care one way or the other, nor does he have an opinion about whether the clip job enhances or detracts from his appearance. Now maybe if it was a mare…
This checks. But even then, some would be horrified and some would picture themselves as preparing for their long overdue photo shoot for the cover of Vogue.
Well, I find these clip jobs completely unacceptable. Humph.
Because I have zero artistic and clipper skills and I so WANT to be able to sport such awesome clip jobs on my ponies and it just ain’t going to happen - ever.
quietly crying in the barn…
I want critters to practice on - where do you live??
I was referring to the horse with the giraffe clip.
I absolutely love the giraffe clip!!
Personally I’m not a fan of the checkers clip or the outfit. At least not together. It’s just a bit busy for my eyes. But the good news is that it does not matter at all if I like it!! I really think people should just do what they enjoy and it’s certainly doesn’t hurt me any.
I have a Buckskin And I will never be caught doing any crazy clip designs because I already think he has a lot going on with his color and I usually roach his mane so I feel like we’re different enough! But same concept, some people hate the roached look, I love it on him so that’s what I do! Plus I hate braiding lol.
