The age to start hunting - pics!

I had the pleasure of being a foot soldier behind Keswick Hunt yesterday - I snapped one of the many very small children hunting - this one ponied by mom the whole way!!

I had to share

OMG - like a real-life Thelwell. How cute is that.

Dang - if I’d known you could do fun things like that with the little crumbsnatchers, I might’ve had some!

OMG too cute. Im with you PAint, who knew?!?

That’ll be my kids one day! So freakin’ cute!!

My best friend took her daughter out at 2
it was so adorable. Her daughter had a blast!!

Soo cute! With my luck my kids won’t want anything to do with horses:rolleyes: Wish there was some kind of money back guarantee or try before you buy type deal. Would make the whole decision to have kids deal so much easier.

Why would you want them to? That leaves more horse money for YOU

Oh, you definitely want your kids to love horses. Horses and kids are like PB & J – just MADE for one another. My daughter is currently a junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, majoring in Industrial Engineering with a concentration in Finance/Management, and she says rodeo (she rode High School and Little Britches both) taught her everything she needs to know about succeeding in life, persevering when it gets tough, “cowboying up” – all stuff she requires on a daily basis, getting through a difficult major at a top flight university, in a field where the “glass ceiling” is still far from shattered. She did Pony Club until she was twelve, then wanted to branch away from mom’s “English stuff” (Currently I foxhunt; evented in my younger years.) Going to rodeos with her was great fun for me – I learned (well, vicariously, at least) an entirely different discipline. My mom always said that one of God’s greatest kindnesses is that people who don’t have children don’t know what they are missing. I believe that goes, double, for those who don’t have horses.

OMG - so CUTE! Love the little jacket and the patient pony. Mom looks so pround. I miss doing stuff like this with my neices - they are in MA and I am in FL and I miss riding with them and taking them places for special occasions. Great pictures!

children rock the hunt

I have to admit, it is my sons love of hunting that keeps me involved with hunting at this stage in my life. I remember when he was born it was such a struggle to steal time from the family and sneak out and hunt. Now he is the one clamoring to bring him hunting!!! I used to get misty eyed when I heard the intense music of the hounds, now I get a little emotional watching my son enjoy hunting. The perfect pony also makes a difference!! Thanks for sharing!

Cutest thing ever, love it!!

She and her pony could model for Thelwell. Too cute. Thanks for posting.

Oh, these are adorable!

This one is my favorite: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g189/raggedgarden/Keswick%20january%202009/20070122_0421.jpg

I can just about hear pony thinking, " Could do without the leadline, ya know."

That has to be the cutest thing I have EVER seen!

Starting age?

I think the ideal age is
in utero!!!

I know, for a fact, that this has happened a LOT!!! The real question is
when does one STOP hunting when carrying a future foxhunter in utero!!!;):lol:

I fox hunted “in-utero”
never got over it. My first hunt off leadline I was 7, got blooded at 8 (how savage, eh?).

Can anybody tell me what is the right age for hunting. I want to know about the right age for hunting. I really like hunting.
