The FEI pony jumper championships run at 1.35m. The large hunter ponies are national level but run 1.1m/ 1.2m at the championship level.

A problem with planes? Horses fly multiple times a day between here and the rest of the world. The race horses are on planes from the US all the time. I highly doubt that’s the actual truth.

People fly multiple times a day between here and the rest of the world. But I still had to rent a car to drive from Detroit to Lexington last month when my earlier flights got messed up badly enough that I missed my connecting flight.

(I will take this opportunity to mention that even though they admitted the cause of the problem was within their control, Delta refused to reimburse me for my rental car cost. I’m still not happy about that. Lol.)

Apparently, some of the horses didn’t arrive until Thursday. It seems once that was the arrival time, some people thought that was not enough time on the ground.

That tracks. A friend’s horses were all set to go to the Netherlands and then all of a sudden they weren’t
And then it was back on track. The timing would have put them finally over there around Thursday.

I was only paying a little bit of attention but I did think it odd given the delay between leaving KY and arriving at the airport. I suppose if the scheduled plane needed unscheduled maintenance and everything else was booked, then you get to wait a few days for your flight

They missed an opportunity for great drama. My favorite scene in “Phar Lap” is when the lorry gets caught in traffic and he has to sprint onto the track in his horsy pajamas to arrive at the start in time. They could have bee-lined onto the field for the flat phase with shoes half off and tail wraps flying. “Do I see MORE TOES?? Brunello is HERE!”

Most of the teams took their own horses over. John rode Crystal Blue which is owned by Paige Walkenbach.

Hardin rode a newly purchased green horse and I think he did a great job.

Do you have any idea what it cost them to take their own horses and pay a big entry fee as well. You needed a customer with VERY deep pockets.

Why would you wait until that late to ship the horses? Most of the ones I had seen arrived over a week before.

Hardin’s horse belongs to Niels Haensen. They know what they’re doing with hunters and I wouldn’t call it that

The shipping for 3 horses was part of the entry package.

Because they were busy with their careers over here would be my guess.

He had a death grip on the poor horse’s mouth. The horse kept trying to use its head and neck, but had no choice but to get hollow.

As I understand it, they didn’t wait that long, but the issues arose on the other end.
