The Baran

The changes were correct, but very forced. He was extremely high-headed for the entire trip. NOTHING looked smooth or easy. I didn’t especially care for his jump, either.

IDRC the junior who had easy as Sunday morning rounds (sorry, I can look it up, but I’m working lol)

Compare her rounds to the more brilliant jumpers.

Explain why an ugly IMO change scores higher than a late/skip/no change.

Sorry, reading my post again. I meant the announcers should explain these things.

Ideal hunter trip = that girl/horse + a more brilliant jump.

Cute child, maybe under 10? Jumps looked bigger than the Baran jumps. Imagine.

She’s 7 and that’s a 133cm class, meaning the pony is 13hh or less, it says it in the video description. Jumping 1.0m.

I’m watching in bits and spurts and just now seeing his trip. I don’t like the quality of his jump in this round either. On first watch, I’m focused on his front end and knees – everything looks loose and feels a little sloppy and careen-y. He looked like he was twisting over the white gate and other times like he’s pulling his front legs to side. I wouldn’t go so far as to say he was hanging legs but he wasn’t often giving a textbook knees-to-nose effort either.

Out of all his jumps, I liked that big bank of rainbow flowers best. That thing made for some beautiful jumps all around.

Maybe it’s the difference between a side view and head-on?

And no, nothing felt seamless about this round. At times it looked like what driving a stick feels like to me when I haven’t done it in a while. And I know I’ve seen this horse have nicer rounds. Big shrug.

She catch rides for GH, but she does not train with him. She is a lovely rider.

She also owns the horse John rode, Crystal Blue.

I haven’t watched so I don’t have a frame of reference, but late/skip/no are mistakes. Rough is the quality of something that is basically correct.

This was a lightbulb for me.
If only the commentary were so clear.

OMG! That little girl’s narration is just too cute. “Best pony in the world!”

I enjoyed this quote from Rodrigo Pessoa about his mount for the class:

“I didn’t know the horse. He had become a hunter on the Monday of the show.”

He complimented No Touch’s quality and talent and said “ I guess he was pretty good because he got three ribbons.”

Danielle Baran had a string in the AAs. She had Casino, Vizcaya, Say When and she also imported Paisley Park and showed him for a while.

I think she was referring to Dani Waldman, who was commentating.

Is that the person who used to show wearing those ridiculous feathers? (I dunno, maybe she still does)

Still does, including this broadcast.

This one cracked me up: “We ride 1.60-meter jumps at full speed, so this is going really slow and jumping really small jumps, so there should not be any mystery, but you need to understand it a little bit.”

They should have televised John French coaching Harrie on how to ride the hunters. I’d pay to see that, I bet it was great.

She should be crying about where Paisley Park is now.

John French flew back in time to show at Saugerties this week.
