Seriously, Brigid. “blase-fased”? How can you misspell two out of eight words in that title?

He hasn’t galloped at Belmont yet. He didn’t arrive there until this afternoon.

I am very sorry! I can’t help the cataracts I try very hard to spell-check! But I can’t often see what I want to type.
Thank you pointing it out. I’ll correct it.

You’d think the base of the twin spires in the background would have been a dead giveaway. Not to mention the Derby sign.

No don’t go away! Your enthusiasm about the Belmont is wonderful and welcome!

I appreciate that you fixed the spelling, but you really don’t need to Justify yourself.

Get it?

Justify yourself.

Okay, bad joke. I will be the one who goes away.

Hey PP, I liked it

That was funny.

Just do the best you can, we can figure out what you mean. I get annoyed with the spelling police, but kick on Brigid.

I’m biting my nails over this Belmont. After all the years spent waiting for a Triple Crown winner, do think it’s possible we’ll have another so soon? I hope so.

I want Mike Smith to get the TC

Except for the very first one in 1919, they seem to have mostly come in clusters before, for whatever reason (3 in the 30s, 4 in the 40s, 3 in the 70s) so why not?

Well then it’s a given! I don’t need to bite my nails.

I adore Mike Smith. Not only is he a great rider and a winning rider, I think he is also a sensitive rider and I like that he is very sparing with the whip and seems to use it more to get the horse’s attention or communicate, not to beat the ** out of it like some riders.

When he rode Richard’s Kid to his first win in the Pacific Classic, he dropped his whip somewhere before entering the stretch. The same thing happened with the next win in the Classic. I always assumed he did it on purpose the next time because in some interview (or maybe on the Jockeys reality show) he said he was superstitious. In any case, he brought that horse up in a late finish to an exciting win, twice, without a whip. And he was never heavy handed with Zenyatta.

Edit to add:
That was wrong. He didn’t lose his whip in the second win in the Pacific Classic. I just checked it out. But I’m sure Smith dropped his whip a second time with Richard’s Kid, unless I’ve lost my mind. Which is possible.

Really?? We needed another separate post about Justify:rolleyes::lol:
why not just keep them all together in one thread.

You know, if I see two threads that are similar I report them to rather mods and ask them to merge them…

What is the point in asking this question now it’s an active thread? You want it closed, or just to make the op feel bad?

There was no Twin Spires in the photo I was referring to. (pg 3)

You didn’t reference a page number, and the first thing that pops up in your link is a photo of Justify galloping at Churchill.
