Bumping for Fabulous ease and Success Sannois.
Hoping you`re counting backwards as we speak !!
You have been in my thoughts all day. I hope the appointment went well. Sending along some jingles.
Sannois…thinking good thoughts.
Fabulous ease as opposed to dis-ease - I like this!
I’ve been thinking of you all day with fervent hope that the news is as good as it can possibly be…
Me too!
You are in my thoughts —
Hi guys, sorry I have not gotten back sooner. It is actually 2 in the am now, I went to bed early last night and am wide awake.
Well Doctor is great. Very down to Earth but matter of fact and knows his stuff.
To spare the gory details, he actually scoped me while I was there, with a small flex sig scope, yup I was awake.
He wanted a Birds eye view of the “Thing” At first he was surprised he did not see it right away, but then was glad, it was high up in the rectum. Yup I saw it… Kinda big.
He said Kim this is all I do. these surgeries are extremely successful, great results. He was gung ho, lets get the ball rolling. Wow. He said they do Chemo, which he said is totally different than Chemo for Leukemia and other types of cancers. And he will remove the section with the mass and two more polyps above it, reconnect and should be all good.
Down side, You have to have a temp Colostomy for 6 weeks. So it heals. But he said he has done so many of these surgeries, and the success rate is extremely high.
He said we will set you up with the social worker for money issues. They never batted an eye.
Of course I will be in debt for the rest of my days. Ordering a CT scan, he hopes by Friday. to see if it has spread anywhere.
I LOVEd his nurse. she was so kind and laid back and helpful. She gave me an interesting story to part with,
Said they had a 94 yr old woman 5 yrs ago present with the same cancer, everyone was not real hopeful that he would do no more than order Hospice care. BUT the woman was sharp as a tack and wanted him to try to do the surgery, she said what do I have to lose. Cut to today, she is rounding up on her 100th Birthday. No cancer.
I have more to say, but I wanted to get this down, so folks would not think I died! LOL
Kind of overwhelming. But he is totally optimistic.
Yeah, sounds like you are in good hands.
I’m glad to hear that you like your doc and that he is confident. What’s a surgeon without an ego?
Good to hear that it can be resected! Get it done and over with and keep posting, we’ll be here with you throughout.
Love to you from Colorado.
Sending cyber hugs
Wishing you a complete and uneventful treatment and recovery.
Sounds like the right Dr for you, you are in good hands, he knows what he is doing.
That is a big help, they will take good care of you.
Keep asking questions, knowledge is your friend there.
Thanks for reporting back.
This all sounds very positive. The doctor seems to know his stuff. Now you can relax a bit and get on with getting well again.
I bet you breathed a few very heavy sighs of relief!
A confident doctor with a high success rate is fantastic news.

Thanks so much for checking in when it was so late and you were tired. I’m glad you like the doctor - so important as you will be seeing a lot of him! Sounds like you’re in skilled, knowledgeable, experienced hands and that the odds are definitely in your favor. I am so glad to read this update.
SO glad you have this doc and his team! Onward to the rest of your life!
Sannois, thanks for the good update.
Sounds like you very much like your Dr and IMO that can be so important in your overall care plan. Having confidence in a Dr is a great thing.
What are next steps for you, the CT? Any ideas on when surgery or chemo or is he waiting for results from the CT? CTs are a breeze
Keep us posted!!
Oh, on any of your imaging studies (MRI, CT, x-ray, DEXA, mamo’s etc) I always ask for a copy of the imaging study on DVD. Usually if you ask at the time of the study, they don’t charge for it and can make the DVD at the same time. At least that has been my experience. Only readable on Win (the app to read the imaging study is on the DVD) but still, you have a copy for yourself and could always make a copy for a different care provider.

Sounds like I got my wish for you - a proactive doctor with an aggressive treatment plan. “leave it to the professionals”
Great update!
My hope is that after your surgery, six week colostomy, and other treatments is that you’ll have a very long life. Remember that the colostomy is temporary, and you can get through this.
The social worker and hospitals see uninsured patients all of the time, and they will make a payment plan that won’t hurt you.
