The Big C! RIP Kim, see pg. 218

Not looking forward to drinking that “Tasty” Blueberrie smoothie contrast tonight! BLECK I can guarantee you it tastes nothing like blueberries!

You can do it! Sometimes, what I do when I have to eat or drink something unpleasant is to play a piece of music that I dearly love. Then, while I’m downing the unpleasant, I concentrate really hard on listening to every note that is being played. It helps keep my mind off of what I am eating or drinking.

Hold the thought of ‘tasty’ blueberries in your mind (real tasty blueberries) and chug it down (assuming they didn’t say sip it  ).

You can do it. I know this evening I’ll be thinking of tasty blueberries  Good suggestion on concentrating on the music instead of what else is going on (that’s how I’ve gotten through MRIs… listening to the music).

Let us know you made it through the blueberries and test when you’re ready.

Well, the strawberry flavored one tasted like pepperming chewing gum, not really bad.

Yours may taste like blueberries.
Not sure how those taste, they seem more on the tasteless side to me.

Ew, I got a nasty “vanilla” flavored one. The taste was not bad-ish but the texture got me. (shudder)

I feel for you. And enjoy your visit with your friend and her nice horse. And like others I, too feel that she has re-appeared for a reason. And it might be that SHE wants to tell YOU something.

But not when labelled as Strawberry!

Husband bought me a smoothy shake thing yesterday, I asked for chocolate, took a good suck on the straw and went EWWWW, such and odd taste…turns out it was strawberry, which was fine once my brain had adjusted, but it was a shock…

Sannois…maybe we should make up a new ‘taste sensation’ name for it…then the disappointment will be less…

“Getitdown” is my nomination…

What helps me is to hold my nose while I’m drinking something awful tasting - if I can’t smell it, it doesn’t seem so bad.

When I had my contrast drink for a CT, it was mocha flavored. And actually, not that bad… just a lot to get down. I hope the blueberries were okay! The weirdest part was that sudden warm all over feeling when they added the IV stuff… it was cold in the CT room so although the sensation was odd, it actually felt pretty good…

Well. No one is saying it so I will. When I had a CT with that IV stuff, the technician (a woman, as am I) was quite graphic that the warm sensation was just like sexual excitement - in that location. So now you will want to have that CT!

Hi Guys! good day. It was so great seeing my friend. it was dang cold this morning, so we decided instead of messing with “Mouse” we went to breakfast.
She was so supportive and wonderful. I cannot tell you what a boost in the arm she was.
I did not cry, she said man I would have been blubbering trying to tell you that if it were me! LOL
She really is a special person. Funny, so many people over the years in the horse world used to say, she was stand offish and not friendly, Her and I clicked from the moment I gave her her first lesson back in 2000.
As for the “Blueberry” stuff, I am supposed to drink the 1st bottle between 8 which is a half hour from now, and 10.
The tomorrow morning, at 7:30 am 90 minutes before my appointment half the second bottle, then a half hour before, 30 minutes before. No food or coffee for 4 hours before appointment. Will let you know after I drink the first glass in a bit.
I have been told by the nurse and the Xray tech it is not too bad, just chalky. Yumm!

Well that is something to look forward to!!

I’m so happy that you were able to connect with an old friend.

I’ve found that tests usually aren’t as bad as I expect. There are some weird sensations that come with contrasts and dyes.

I’ve never had any tests that were entertaining  but then again I’ve not had any that were horrible either. I tend to have the “whatever, just do it and get it over with” feeling.

I think horse people are tougher than most. I’m sure you are.
Not that we don’t have feelings, but sometimes we are just more “matter of fact” and even when we cry we do regain our sense of humor…

Hang in there Sannois and we’ll be hangin’ with you.

Well I have had worse… I have had better. It smells like Blueberries, and well sort of tastes like blueberries.
The consistency is of a really watered down pancake batter, but not lumpy.
I gulped the first half of it, and well that was at 8. I will drink the last of it at 9:30.
I had it cold. I poured it in my 2 cup measure and it is 2 cups. It is rather filling. But it has given me heartburn! LOL

Sannois, sounds like your friend reappeared for a reason and that is such a good thing!!

Glad to hear the blueberry “stuff” was tolerable despite the heartburn. I’ve slept in my recliner a few times when I’ve had a touch of heartburn. Might help you if you have a recliner.

No anecdotal evidence on the contrast stuff as I’m not sure I’ve ever had it.

The imaging rooms are often “cold” because the equipment can put out some heat. I also know that I’ve gotten “warm” as the MRIs are finishing up. I’ve been told that the realignment of molecules (?) due to the magnet can make you feel warm. I know I’ve felt that. CT not so much because the scans are so much shorter.

Will be thinking good, positive thoughts for you tomorrow! {{}}

Well Finished up the last of the bottle. I am full. Too bad, even my Coffee I just made tastes like Blueberry.
I may never eat another Blueberry muffin again!

DAMN! I’m going to have to tell the imaging place I want the good stuff! They held out on me!:-/

Good luck Sannois- we’ll be thinking of you.

Just remember, “this too shall pass”.

Good luck today that your innards light up properly and all is clean every place.

I generally try to peek at what they are showing in the screen as they check that all is ok, no blurry images.
I ask questions about what I see there that don’t quite seem clear.
Some times may even have a technician that will answer those.
Give it a try, you always learn something.
