Kim, I’m not super ambitious. But some physical labor helps my brain relax after dealing with estate crap. Nothing focuses me like a good deadline, and I’ve set myself one of Sept. 16 to be caught up with all this stuff. That’s right before school starts, with the rainy dreariness soon to follow.
Farmers market day. Tomatoes from Southern Indiana are here so ours aren’t far behind. My cousin hopes to be picking sweet corn next week, he says the tassels are starting to change color. I did get a few ears that are from S Indiana. Ended up going by the farm store and replenished my honey pops too. The weather here is pretty nice, no humidity right now. I hope it stays like this because our county fair is next week and that means a day wandering through the 4H barns, people watching and junk food.
Well so they will be everywhere soon. Awesome.
I need to call my friend Janet, the one who bought the PasoFino, we always go the Kent County 4 H fair, and I think it is coming up soon. We walk around watch some horse classes, and Drink REAL lemonade that is amazing, and these Home made french fries which this fair is famous for. I mean real potatoes, with that look like there is still a bit of skin on them. Okay my mouth just started watering. LOL
I’m such a pig! Our cherry tomatoes (the sweet little yellow ones) have come in gangbusters. I took a container, about 2 pints, up to riding camp on Friday, but you know kids. Tomatoes are not high on their list. MORE FOR ME! I ate nearly the 2 pints all by myself. Such a little oinker!
Our regular sized tomatoes are still a couple weeks away.
Gosh, I’m glad I don’t have a big space to mow like you do. Not that I would – allergic as hell. We’re thinking of selling our current home and moving, though, and I just did 5 new fruit trees that, bless their tiny little hearts, are producing. Tiny peaches (but yummy), apricots, plums. Thought I killed the fig, but no, it is throwing out some more leaves. Hate to leave these lovely new trees behind. It seems I’m always taking out awful tree choices, poorly placed, and putting in lovely fruit trees, then picking up and leaving. I’m a very poor imitation of Johnny Appleseed.
Oh yes, I adore those Grape tomatoes that are so sweet, they come in red and yellow, and I eat them like m& and M’s!
Those will be high on my list.
Too much Acid… pfft~
Just think A you are leaving those trees for someone to love and grow, anf get fruit from, and a little piece of you.
I am going to go and get a pedicure and massage next week, it is high time.
Kim - a big hug from me and a wish that your day gets better. And I love the idea of haunting your ex!
And I have tomatoes! Yay! They are no bigger than peas and just appeared but still. Something to look forward to.
Another glorious day shaping up. Out watering and weeding since 6:30
Great on a sunday because it is so quiet.
New development, my hair is falling out. And I mean falling out. WTF? Residual effects from that poison?
I mean every brush stroke is full of hair. Might as well get it cut, so much for keeping my hair long.
Phooey.
Off to go get another garden hose. This one is shot. I hate kinkers. LOL
hope you guys are all doing something horsey. Have a wonderful Sunday, KIm
PS thank you to the 2 COTHERS who took it upon themselves to email me. It was so nice to actually have email, and to chat.
I still worry that the folks that have messaged me have not seen that I cannot reply anymore.
Email me, I feel bad I would never not reply.
khoran53@gmail.com :)
oh I’m so glad you’re having a great sunday! YAY for quiet Sundays!
And so sorry about the hair. They told DH he would lose his on day 17 and literally, on day 17, out it came (but he was doing chemo, so maybe that’s not it?)
For hoses, I’d recommend the pocket hose - they scrunch down to nothing,no kinking ever, and drain themselves
When you go to the fair and get those yummy fries and lemonade, do they serve poutine?:eek::eek::eek::eek: You’re in MI, right? I didn’t know if that <so many words come to mind, none of them charitable> stuff had made it down your way or not from Canada…
Anyway, hope you have a wonderful day!
Kim, Another bright sunny day in Seattle. Today’s horsey adventure is … turnout!! It is exciting and terrifying at the same time. The other horses have been going out for a few weeks, but the BO wanted to wait until I could be there. Last year’s turnout was a sight to see. Full-on running, bucking and rearing. You’d never think the big mare was 21. She will go out with her best-neighbor Flash, an OTTB.
Fingers crossed it all goes well.
I don’t think anything’s better than county fair lemonade. Except maybe scones.
Kim, if your hair is falling out… hat please outside so you don’t sunburn your scalp. No need to add to any potential misery.
Glad to hear you are getting out and enjoying the outside and “playing” in the yard!
Any plans for dinner?
We are still baking here in AZ but hoping some of the possible rainstorms actually materialize in my neck of the woods. I can tell it is more humid as for the last few days, my glass of ice water would stay dry and yesterday dripped, cold condensation.
My parents picked their first two tomatoes this weekend, but my first one is at least a week away (it’s pretty big, but still very green).
My horsey thing today so far is bush hogging! I am taking a lunch break right now, but will head back out in a few minutes for more.
Sunday Shine ~ cooled off here : humidity dropped So?
I escaped for the morning ~ a ride with some old friends up by the lake ~ delightful way to spend a few hours ~
now some barn work
and perhaps ?
Chinese take out for dinner ! Or if some extra energy is found ?
Perhaps fire up that BBQ = some chicken !
Hope everyone is enjoying a break from the heat ~
Get ready !!!
- those MATERS are ripening up !!:D
So…last week whinging about too cool? And what did I say? Yes, today it’s only noon-ish and it’s 85 degrees here and climbing. Oh well, CA. Whatcha gonna do? I’m hiding in my house. I will do chores later.
My tomato specks are less speck-ier. I have high hopes for you, you little dears, you. hee hee
Now I want a big ol’ house burger. With cheese. And a cold vanilla coke. nom
I don’t know what a house burger is but it sounds great!!
See we have to be careful about talking about the weather, it is perfect summer day here, but it is supposed to get HOT next week again. The old saying, If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute, it will change.! Kim
Well all I know is that apparently one round of Chemo is enough to do damage to hair folicles and all those healthy cell in my mouth, finally normal now, the hair seem to be the last thing.
No no Poutine, That stuff looks gross, not to insult my wonderful northern neighbors, but seriously what is the attraction?
Oh fun stuff!! Used to love doing that! so relaxing!
Stryder, have I missed something? do they not go out every day, or is this a new barn? Do tell!
And you should have gotten pic of the merriment!! :)
Well it is not bare spots but just more than I would like to see in my hair brush, hopefully it knocks it off,
And I am weird about my hair, doing horse stuff or yard work I am always wearing a bandana, I sweat like a pig.
Dont all horsey types!
Oh the perfect day Zu!!
Man I miss Chinese, the one that is in town is Not good.
Yes this weather cool off is so great, but now I hear we are going back to hot and humid next week.
This is hoping that you are right about the maters! They should be so close!!!
Everyone is dying for them, well except tomato haters! Can you believe their are such people??
:eek::lol:
Kim
Have never met a tomato hater, but know a person that had to have tomatoes skinned, would not eat them with the skin in salads or sandwiches.
