The "Bring Chrome Home" crowd is batty, but...

I feel bad for Taylor Made! We sent a mare there to board and be bred a couple of years ago, and they are pretty much like any Lexington TB nursery - professionals.

If you want to get an idea about the day to day operations at Taylor Made - the book Kentucky Derby DReams: The Making of Thoroughbred Champions covers quite a bit.

Someone should post on BCH that the plan is for Chrome to go to Dubai and Ascot again next year.

I think Sherman spoke up when he was not supposed to… AGAIN… DAP or Taylor Made should have made that announcement. Other owners might drop him for speaking out of turn and sort of against them. People forget who is paying the bills. I thought the BCHers would jump all over Art for that interview - he said I, I, I… and I thought the BCHers would think he should have said WE… for dear Chromie and Raul and Anna and whatever other barn staff they obsess about.

CC is Art’s one and only Big Horse - I am sure he is more than eager and determined to race him again instead of letting him drift off to stud. If he was still not ready to run in the Arlington as it got close, Martin would NOT have insisted that he run anyway… despite BCH shrieking how vile, greedy and evil he is…

Maybe we should also suggest to BCH that he is being switched to Asmussen’s barn…. 90% of them would not have a clue who he was…

I enjoyed reading the ESPN article, nice to see the media give appropriate press to these wing-nuts. As per usual I’m confused about the BCH admin and her knowledge of the connections. She insulted both the DAP FB page (no surprise) along with the CC FB page that is the home site of the Sherman racing family. I get the feeling BCH doesn’t know that the Sherman’s run that page…well at least they used to. Sad to see it gone, but perhaps less regular news will calm down the crazies.

If I was Taylor Made, I would have made it a condition of the sale that he be moved to a different trainer. There’s quite a lot of insubordination in that camp.

Does this mean the Colburns are completely out? Not involved in any way whatsoever?

The Coburns sold their 30% interest in California Chrome, but atm presumably still retain their interest, via the DAP partnership, in his dam Love the Chase and CC’s three full siblings.

If CC does race in 2016 I wonder if it will be under the DAP colors or something new reflecting the Taylor Made participation in CC’s ownership.

I had a idea today that all of us who were banned from the BCH page on FB should form a clique! “Banned From BCH Clique” Maybe we could start our own page and really stir them up because there would be no way to delete our posts if they responded to something and we pointed out what idiots they truly are!

Some of BCH nut jobs are already talking about plane tickets and car trips to see Chrome at Taylor Made. The fact that the BCH administrator keeps saying “Taylor Farms” makes me want to scream. I have never seen such a bunch of misinformed, wacked out people. For God’s sake, do some research and understand what a “race horse” actually is. And for God’s sake, start using proper grammar!

You know, take the money for the plane tickets and trip to “Taylor Farms”, where they have been advised not to go, will not get past the front gate and no trespassing in Kentucky means weapons will be displayed. Give it to CANTER, Old Friends or other worthy causes devoted to TBs, even donate it on behalf of CC. That would do actual good instead of create an embarrassing nuisance.

Id suggest one of the horsemen’s/jockey relief funds too but…people are not very high on their list.

Here’s hoping that Taylor Made and DAP will severely restrict the information about Chrome, and maybe things will calm down some. I am hoping that Taylor Made and Martin gave the information to Sherman about 2016 knowing full well that he would blab about it to the press. Perhaps he is getting off on all of this newfound exposure with the media. By now, all parties should know what to expect from him.

Too bad that the BCH people don’t seem to realize that if they are nice and respectful to all concerned with Chrome that they just MIGHT have more success getting updates and information from them.

Maybe they can transfer some of their fervor to the return of War Emblem to the USA after all of these years of torture in Japan and how he somehow miraculously missed out being served up on a plate.

Yeah, they can go hug War Emblem because he will sense the majikal connection they have with stallions they don’t own. Then again, I wouldn’t want him to get hurt.

Anybody want to set odds on CC actually stepping on a track in 2016?

War Emblem was a dud at stud the past few years - he simply refused to cover a mare. And yet - he did not end up slaughtered in the meanness that is Japan… or, in Chromidiots style…

SLAUGHTERED!!! Cruel, EVIL JAPAN!!! OMG!!! Someone help him!! My heart is breaking!! He can come to live in my yard!!!

… and yet he came back to the US and to Old Friends to live out his days.

Sherman will want CC back on the track and work towards that… so many of the BCHers are hypocrites - screaming he should only be retired and yet now thrilled that he is supposed to race again.

But then a few of their “experts” were telling them that CC would be treated badly as a breeding stallion - it is all artificial, doncha know - and mean and he is forced to breed some kind of a dummy horse and not a real mare and it is just awful. Reading some of the breeding expertise made my eyes roll so far back into my head that I almost needed a fork to set them right…

Heh…he would hurt THEM. That will teach them to think that they have a ‘magickal connection’ with a horse. I’m not opposed to them hugging him, as long as he doesn’t kill them.

He can come to live in my yard!!!

gigglesnort Aww CC in somebody’s little yard, with a tiny cute fence, free from the cruel lip chain (because ‘I know he is so nice and a sweetheart’) and apparently with Raul living in the guest house. Nope, no problems here

War Emblem is not there yet. September.

So true. Maybe suggest some of the legitimate Thoroughbred rescue and rehoming operations? It would be an eye-opener for those idiots to see what an abused Thoroughbred in dire straits actually looks like.

I would not mix the Japan issue of slaughtering horses with the BCB extremist.

it was real that a Derby winner went to slaughter in Japan. And I do believe --but I will stand to be corrected-- that they ship live cargo to Japan for horse meat.

(I am suspecting after all the bad press about the Derby winner years ago- that sales of famous horses to Japan-- have clauses to prevent that type of bad press from happening again.)

Canada breeds draft types specifically for slaughter after shipping to Japan. Think there’s a thread on it over on Off Course titled something like “Is it wrong not to be upset by this video” or something. They are being loaded for a flight over there and appear to be well treated and no more upset then any average horse being loaded into a pallet at the airport would be. They are purpose bred, not ex child’s pets, companions, work partners or racing industry rejects.

Ferdinand was, like, over 30 years ago and IIRC it may have been a mistake, not intended with much shame involved when it came out, a VBD over there. They have since atoned for it by treating stallions they buy over here better then most treat them over here at the end of their breeding life. Particularly if they were duds with underperforming offspring or didn’t like mares.

I think we can go past that and concentrate on how they end up at the kill auctions over here nit to mention the deteriorated, neglected shape most are in.

We aren’t mixing it so much as making fun of the fact that the BCHers have not done their research. They aren’t actually dumb in this case, except that per the usual they aren’t looking at horses who are currently there or who have recently returned. Since Ferdinand (and Exceller in Sweden), major stallions sent to Japan are almost always sent with a “Ferdinand clause” which states that breeders can buy them back when their breeding usefulness is over. Horses like Silver Charm, War Emblem and Roses in May have/had them. It would shock me if Empire Maker, Charismatic, I’ll Have Another and others don’t have them. They haven’t forgotten Ferdinand and don’t want it to happen again. Today, Japan treats its breeding stallions exceedingly well, and the BCHers refuse to just look around and see it.

Also, they do ship live cargo to Japan for horsemeat. They tend to be purpose-bred. They don’t slaughter well-known Thoroughbred stallions after Ferdinand. If they did, we’d know.

They really thought he would be bred AI? I bet War Emblem’s connections wish that was an option. He wouldn’t be coming back to the U.S. If it were.

"Thank you for taking Chrome to such a beautiful place. Please could you do us in California a huge favor? If he acts depressed & sad because he’s been thru so much. And he’s been away from his human family, please let Art know so he could possibly send Raul back? He’s a very special different horse. There are no words to explain how much we all love & miss him. Thank you again. We love you Junior! You will back home soon! God watch over you Chrome!?

In response to shared post on BCH from Taylor Made. I hope Taylor Made has plenty of security for the Fan Day they are planning on having for Chrome. But then again, most of these people will probably not be at the fan day. I would imagine REAL race fans might actually go…
