like the safety floatation rings placed around the pony,
The Cajun Navy is all volunteer, and have rescued thousands of people and animals since this started.
Gotta love the pool noodle life vest on the pony.
I know a guy from Florida who took his 6 horse trailer to Louisiana after Katrina to help rescue horses. I guess he’s gone back now to help with the floods.
We had a family friend, now deceased, a real cajun, who lived in Denham Springs. He told us each time it flooded the snakes came into the houses.
Animal rescues are now in Louisiana going to locate pets left behind. Some areas that were flooded are rural and hard to access due to post flood conditions.
These people amaze me with their level of dedication.
Thanks for posting this. We’ve had a rough time down here but it is amazing to see everybody helping each other. The horse community especially.

In our Christchurch 'quakes, we had the Farmy Army (farmers bringing tractors, diggers, trucks and hard labour in to help their townie neighbours - big front end loaders were awesome for cleaning liquefaction off the road and digging out areas), the Student Army (volunteer students who turned up with shovels, buckets and willing backs - and challenged the farmers to come to town). You have the “Cajun Navy” - brillant coming together of volunteers who are not waiting to be instructed but are just getting in and helping their neighbours out.)
I believe a Louisiana state senator now wants to “regulate” the Cajun Navy.
This is a state that requires licensure for florists.
