The case of the missing bathtub plug

I was going to have a bath this evening, I got all robed up and ready to go and then couldn’t find the plug! I’ve seen Mr. Moo playing with it before, and always promptly put it away where he couldn’t get to it. But I must have forgotten to put it away in a safe place when I cleaned the tub last night and now he’s gotten to it. Even under duress (kisses upon kisses all over him) he wouldn’t give up his hiding spot.

Please help me pass my bath-less evening with stories of things your kitties have stolen!

My barn cats have stolen my scissors more than once. I tend to stab them into a bale of hay after I cut the twine on the bale I am using. Sometimes the next day it is quite the challenge to find my scissors as they have been pulled out of the bale and dragged off.

I save the tabs from each can top of wet food I go through, and it’s a lot each week due to my two piggies. I was cleaning my guest bathroom today, and that’s where I have my bath scale.

I picked the scale up to mop the floor and found about 20 of the can tabs that my kitten had stolen from the container in the kitchen and stashed under the scale. I found her hard-earned booty.

Did she keep storing things there after she knew you were wise to her?

During my college days, boyfriend’s frat brother had a cat. When he got ready to move and took up the rug in his room, there was 14 coins 7 buttons and a key…

Hair ties. My cats love them, and for a while I thought I was going crazy because I couldn’t figure out where all of mine were going. I finally found a bunch (like ten of them!) way in the back of the linen closet! It has a big gap between the floor and door, and I suppose the kitties were knocking them through the gap and attempts to fish them back out just pushed them further in. There were quite a few things under that bottom shelf, btw. A big safety pin, paper balls I’d made for them, chip bag clips (another cat favorite), emery boards (presumably so they could sharpen their claws)…

It makes you wonder what she was going to DO with all of them, LOL!

Hilarious! You’d think he’d have felt at least some of those things underfoot!

Cats with scissors: as long as they don’t run with them, I suppose it’s OK.

Seriously, I wonder what the attraction is? Why would the cats want scissors, of all things?

Kim - it was a frat house in the 70’s. They didn’t feel ANYTHING except maybe the munchies…

One cat years ago stole Mom’s reading glasses, which were on one of those around-the-neck cords. We were getting ready to head out to a concert, and she had set out her “take with me” stack earlier - music, cough drops, reading glasses with cord. Now as we were literally about to head out the door, the glasses had disappeared.

We found them under a dresser. We were also 10 minutes late to call time, though the director did say, “The cat stole my glasses,” was a new excuse to him.

Q-tips are gold in our house. I can’t tell you how many I’ve found scattered throughout this joint, with the fuzz eaten off. When they get thumping around at 2am, DH and I usually ask who left the bathroom door open downstairs.

It’s the worst when they knock the entire trash can over and drag the contents out in search of any stragglers that have fallen to the bottom…or when they figured out where the brand NEW box was hiding under the sink. It was like kitteh Christmas!

Car keys! Mr. Grabbity-is-my-favorite-toy likes to push anything you set on a flat surface onto the floor. Once there, jingly shiny things are fun to bat around. Until they end up under heavy furniture.

Next morning, kitteh has the fun of watching the human dashing frantically around the house, throwing more things around while searching for the keys.

Now my keys go in my pocketbook, which goes into a closet with a cat-proof door.

We have a bath plug stealer as well. He also loves to drag around my flip flops.

The older cat used to steal a particular pair of socks but he hasn’t been interested in them for years.

My dogs are great kitchen-sink-plug stealers. Which is too bad, since I get the semi-expensive kind that will strain out beet pulp before it goes down the drain. They don’t hide them, but they eat the rubber parts out and bend the metal so I only find the mangled, useless corpses.

The bathtub, fortunately, has one of those metal levers that closes the drain. Or I’m sure I’d have to buy bathtub plugs by the gross.

Last night I found the plug under the oven. I needed a coat hanger to fish it out but at least I found it!

LOL!
I have a cat that steals everything. Pens, cards, receipts, forks, credit cards…I have to hide my purse on top of the fridge because of the dogs and he gets up there and takes stuff out of it. I have caught him more then once. He tends to steal things over night and leave them outside the bedroom door. The other night my DH put a credit card on the counter for me to use the next day and I stepped on it walking out of the bedroom the next morning. He is terrible!!
