Best. Line. All. Week. lmao
I had two fools at one barn decided that the bits in the horses mouths were hurting the horsies because they had wrinkles in the corners of their mouths. So they dropped the bits. So they were banging on the horses’ teeth. Which made the poor horses throw their heads, which of course made it hurt worse. One girl decided a tie down would stop that. Then her horse ran off and she could not get it stopped because she had no control. That finally got the idea myself and several other people had been trying to pound into their empty heads for weeks.
Really, there is no end to the dumb.
I saw the FB person’s video! Did not do the legwork that you did to discover she has no show record, but am not really surprised. The whole thing was fishy! Matadors in Red Square is right.
The beauty & curse of being ADD. When I procrastinate, I procrastinate hard! Lol.
Based on what I know of them, I doubt FB person had any nefarious intentions in recruiting the investors. More like overconfidence preventing them from realizing they don’t know what they don’t know. But yikes. What a lot of pressure to put on themselves.
@TheDBYC agreed. Though I did think the GoFund me page to recover costs and “lobby for transparency for horse buyers” was a little much.
The mention of fb reminded me of a person from high school getting in contact with me a couple of years ago. He was always a little sketch in high school, and, from quickly scanning his profile like the sleuth I am, nothing seemed to have changed. He proved his sketchiness quickly when he started sending me a ton of messages about his neighbors horse not being fed and that I needed to do something about it…as though I had any sort of power to do so…Then, after I gave him resources to Animal Control and the County office, he proceeded to bombard me with FB calls about how I need to come and take this horse off his neighbors property IMMEDIATELY.
…ummmmm…what? You want me to come steal your neighbors horse? Boy…get out. After telling him that was a felony here and would never be on my list of things to do, he became one of two people on my fb who are completely blocked.
People are so strange.
Ohhhhh, I missed that part!
Ineed to see this.
And who the he** is going to police this? The whole idea makes me giggle…
Definitely! Or the Space Force? Since that whole thing never got off the ground
@TheDBYC yes! There’s a joke somewhere in Space Force/Sale Horse rhyming, but I am too tired to make it.
Ohhh it’s still in the works. Where I live is one of the places they are seriously considering putting the headquarters, since we have a ton of both space and military experience.
Years ago I evented a friend’s Morgan gelding who was a bit, umm, chubby (old style Morgan). My friend who was watching our Novice stadium round told me that someone in the crowd near her said, “they really shouldn’t compete mares that are that far along”.
Just curious, where was the Morgan gelding evented, or do you remember his registered name?
I had a gelding, Blue Velvet Viper. “Blue” sired Atta Lane Bronzemen, a chubby Morgan gelding, who did pretty good at Training Level, I think.
I’ve been following this thread and just recalled a couple corkers from a family acquaintance (who started riding only a year or so ago)…
- I made a joke about the ability of horses to do inexplicably stupid things…she responded that I must have only had high maintenance thoroughbreds and her quarter horse would NEVER do something silly…the horse I’ve had for 12 years is a pony of unknown breeding and the easiest maintenance horse ever and I assured her a horse’s breed absolutely does not preclude it from doing something stupid
- I bought an unbroken filly and after her own admission that she is still struggling to learn to canter, same family acquaintance said she cannot wait to break her own horse in
One can just imagine the multitude of ways that could go horribly wrong!
She’s said several other things too and I really have to hold my tongue and refrain from informing her that my two decades of riding and 12+ years of ownership probably means I know a touch more than she does from riding lessons for a year at a place that apparently encourages riding in shorts and sneakers…
Oh. And another from years ago when I boarded. A lady had a gelding who was a bit of a mean one, and said lady had zero concept of etiquette anywhere, and definitely no arena etiquette. My mare, unsurprisingly, was not fond of this gelding being near her. We were on a 20m circle, and this lady decided to…ride right up our butt on the circle and circle behind us like that. When I eventually turned and asked her not to as my mare was very clearly upset, she couldn’t understand the problem. After that, if she was there at the same time as me, we went trail riding instead.
There’s a guy at the barn that does the “ride on your butt and follow too close” junk, and the worst part is his equipment is SUPER jingly-jangly. I actually like the guy quite a bit as a person, so what I do is abruptly 10m circle while saying “gotta get rid of my stalker”. He and I laugh about it, but he’s never really caught on that what he’s doing is aggravating…
Can you please PM the info? I haven’t seen the FB stuff, but suspect I know the individual.
You need to start working on a Bob Dylan themed freestyle & blast Mr. Tambourine Man every time he comes near you
