A mare I used to lease had her JC name changed, which I’m not always a fan of. Her JC name, however, was Mary Smells. Definitely supported that change!

Hey, my mare was “Stan’s Friend”. What the heck do you do with that?
Apropos of nothing, I realize I call mares “Mare” as if it is their name. I don’t call the geldings “Gelding”. I say “good boy” and “good girl” relatively evenhandedly, but I’m not sure why I call mares “Mare”. Maybe it’s because of STAN’S FRIEND.

Is it strange that part of me wants to know what happens with her at the next barn? Like, how long does it take for the new facility to catch-on to what kind of person she is? Does she have a routine whereby she threatens EVERY BO/BM on a three-way conference call when she’s asked to leave?
I mean, I’m glad she’s gone from where you’re at of course, but she’s only going to be terrorizing another hapless group of equestrians out there somewhere

I know what barn she went to, it’s a self care facility that used to be a humongous standardbred training barn. No indoor arena, and I’d guess she nearly has a whole barn to herself (has a main barn, then I think 16 smaller barns). That likely suits her, as there’s no one to play victim to. It does speak to how many barns in the area she’s been booted from that she ended up there, as it wouldn’t be anyone’s first choice in the dead of winter.

I told Boyd Martin “bless you” twice when he sneezed not knowing who he was ( He was far away ans I need new glasses ok?) My barnmate thought it was hilarious.

Young “lesson” girl who can’t canter reliably yet asks me non chalant 'so, when are we going to half-pass?" I think I snorted a little because she surprised me so much with the question. “Let’s work on getting our circles right first, shall we?”
New person. “Do you ride hunters or jumpers?” Me, “I event.” Her “so jumpers.” Me “… no, I event.” Mind you, I was riding in my dressage saddle so I don’t know where that came from.
Another girl, very nice but beginner, had set up a little trot in jump. But the distances… my God it was going to be a train wreck. I stepped in politely before she got started and fixed it - they had a good little jump school.

My mare was the daily dumb yesterday.
Ride was going ok, she’s always a titch wild after a day off but nothing outrageous - just her typical “the answer to every question is faster” type young horse stuff. Then… she decided she was going to bolt from one particular corner of the arena, trying to make it to the other end without touching the ground.
Not once… or twice… or three… or four…
She tried that baloney 6 times (I just circled and put her back to work, she was gaining nothing out of her antics) before I hopped off and gave her the “what for” about it. Got back on… perfect angel.
Turkey.
The days are getting longer, perhaps she’s going into heat. Who knows. Ugh. Young horses.

Why does it have to go from mid -60’s to a high of 40 (with a wind-chill of 30)? I had more naughty horses today than I have in a while. 2 horses (including my own) decided to become kites and one seriously thought about rearing over. 2 pushed through the field gate and took a tour of the facility. I have 2 boarders show up and wait at the closed gate while I caught them. Of course the beautiful idiot was the one that refused not be caught. Those were the notable naughty horses. I had more.
I am needless to say, having beer tonight.

Idjit is sending her Hackney Pony mare through a sale at the end of April.
Temps here are rollercoasting between daytime 20s to 40s, nights teens to single digits.
So Idjit decides to clip mare a la Show Prep for the breed.
But, she does an incredibly p-poor job.

Mare will be repped by a young man whose family puts on the sale.
His ponies & those of their customers are always impeccably turned out.
This is what mare looks like today:
Note tracks on face & waaaay too long bridle path
Legs “booted up”
? Above the knee & hock? Why?
NWIH any of this will grow out in the 2mos before the sale.
Complete bodyclip is the only possible fix & lord forfend if Idjit tries that!

I’m not sure there is a way to save that mane…I’d be tempted to cut it all off! At least it would grow out evenly! And the weird partial neck clip?

Agreed there… maybe she needs to pay a pro and get some sedation on board if necessary. I am still laughing at the poof left below the ears and the naked legs 
is the agent she’s using aware of the current look? someone should tell him!

Agent will most likely do the full bodyclip & charge accordingly.
