What are we calling that move? Spaz at C, continue working trot? lol
Maybe I can tie boat buoys on him so we float.
It was just a few steps before the “20m circle at E”, during which I am sure I was audibly laughing.
I used to let my horses paw in water jumps but I recently learned that you shouldn’t let them. In one of Cathy Wieschhoff’s 1 minute educational videos, she said that water jumps have expensive liners and pawing can puncture the liner.
There’s no liner—it’s a very provincial course. Just a sandy hole they drain in the off season. And I don’t let him stop and paw when there’s a trial or public schooling coming up; they drag the bottom and clean it up for that.
But good to know about liners.
At least he didn’t completely fall down. A friend of mine was riding at the beach and his horse started pawing at the waves and then fell completely over and started rolling. Lost his camera, hat, lunch and wrecked the saddle. He was not pleased. Told me later horse looked smug.
Poor Shayney has been getting some sunburn with all the extra turnout. So… yeah. Sorry not sorry, Shayney!
You may end up being the sorry one if she decides she’s not wearing it!!
My white nose won’t wear ears (except maybe during blackfly week in May) or a long nose. I tried. After finding the mask on the ground within 30’ of where I turned him loose the day before I gave up.
He’s actually not wearing any mask this summer after I watched him roll out of the mask several times. Just him lying down, rolling and leaving the mask on the ground when he stood up again. Zero extra effort to remove the mask, it just happened. There’s an unnecessary talent if ever I saw one…
@RedHorses, don’t feel too bad. I’ve never seen the Cashel style masks stay on any horse for more than a couple of hours. They’re just cut way too large in weird ways, in my opinion.
I’ve tried about six different brands/styles, but I do feel the Cashel noses are too long and can irritate the horse. The ones I’ve seen that stayed on the horse (other people’s horses) all curled up away from the horse’s nostrils an inch or so at the end.
Cashel masks used to be better tailored than they are now. I had a couple of the original black and grey masks that fit nicely and stayed on (no nose, just with ears).
Then Greenhawk had “long” nosed masks that ended an inch above the nostrils that were surprisingly effective at preventing sunburn. They’re not made any more.
My current go to is Shires, although I do have to remove the binding/trim over the poll, remove the elastic from over the poll, and sew the binding back on. My other horse is very cooperative and rarely removes his masks.
No, it wasn’t roped off.
Got blocked from mustang girls Facebook page. She takes the mustang… who she has only worked at liberty… into the arena, where he’s never been… and ties him to the wall. Mustang is FREAKING OUT about the new location, and having his head/body restrained.
She posts a video captioned “lol to say he doesn’t like being tied is an understatement.”
I couldn’t take it, and as calmly as I could explained how unfair it is to tie a horse who has no idea what to do when his face is pulled on. The horse’s distress was palpable. Explained the prerequisites for tying, and suggested starting in his stall or the roundpen she works him in where he would be more likely to relax and have a successful session.
Blocked.
Apparently she was SOBBING to people at the barn saying what a witch I am. Look, you made a business page claiming to be a trainer… expect it not to be an echo chamber.
I mean FFS. She brags about how it took her an hour to get her TB she’s owned for years over a puddle, and tells everyone he won’t take his right lead because he was a racehorse. Erghhhhh.
I know anyone can hang out their shingle but jeez.
If anyone wants to take a look, pm me and I’ll give you her business name and you can see her FB idiocy for yourself. It’s a hoot.
Ah yes - the Idiot Trainerette. That’s what I call them.
In my area we had a little 13 yr old know-it-all touting herself as a trainer even though she was little better than a crash test dummy. She had to cease and desist after she injured (through ignorance) a couple of “clients” horses. Threats of being sued made her parents remove her from the barn.
ETA; I feel sorry for that poor horse. What a miserable life with someone who knows nothing and may hurt him.
You were more generous than I.
A good comment would be. “How to Break Your Horse’s Neck 101”
BAHAHAHAHHAAH yes that is definitely his emoji!
…’:‘magestical*’:*…
A customer called about 50ft & 100ft extension cords the other day, “I have a pretty big yard. How far do you think they would reach?”
What do you even say to that?
