The Elusive 2H Living Quarters Trailer

Dixie Horse and Mule Co in Lower Alabama sells a two horse with living quarters, they have both bumper pull and gooseneck. I know nothing about the trailers or those particular manufacturers but they look nice enough.

I had Titan turn a 3 horse GN with a 2’ short wall into a 2 horse GN with a 5’ short wall for me. It is perfect for me. The few times I go camping I only take one horse. The rest of the time the large dressing room gives me plenty of space to work in at hunts, etc.

Just saw this for sale on a facebook group, not sure if it’s out of your price range ($20k) and it’s in MA so maybe too far, but it’s a 2H slant w a 6’ LQ.

I’m on my 2nd 2H LQ , though I have it for sale as I am getting out of horses. Check www.horsetrailerworld.com and do a search, you will find several

They are definitely in short supply, which is why DH and I are driving to MO this Friday to look at and hopefully bring one home. He couldn’t find one around here. We found it on www.horsetrailerworld.com, and the dealer actually has a few other used 2h there, I think. We are looking at the Bison, similar to others posted here. My friend has one, I’ve camped in it a few times, and it’s plenty big for what DH and I will need.

We ride with people that have some fairly large rigs. I do not have room to turn or park anything that large, I have no desire to drive anything that large, and I don’t want to have to buy a different truck. While I will miss the space in my 3h slant (not LQ), we will make do. I’m keeping the old one for day trips and winter hauling, so we will just have to suffer when we camp. The only time hay should be a problem is if we go for a week, and we can probably have someone haul some for us.

So there are some out there, but you may have to drive a little farther to get one than you would to find something larger.

A whole list of 2 horse GN or Bumper pull for sale, most are new, a few used. Don’t know where you are in Florida but it’s not far from Panama City/Destin.

The new Shadow 2H Competitor looks like a great choice, albeit out of my current price range. (sigh!) The length is compact for an LQ. As for amenities, it has everything I would want and need , and I love the light and bright interior. Just an FYI to those who can budget a bit more.
Also Shadow states that it can be pulled by a light duty truck.

that’s a mighty skinny trailer. 6’ wide slant load? I thought 7’ wide LQs were claustrophobic, a 6’ would boggle my brain!

Starting Weight @ 5600 Pounds

I have a 3H GN without LQ, a SilverStar, that starts at 5400 lbs, so fairly close in size. I do pull it with a 1/2 ton, BUT…it’s too big in reality. I’m shopping for a used 3/4 ton right now. I have a 5.4L V8 in my 2013 GMC Sierra 1500, and I had to add Firestone airbags to the suspension. Without those, I definitely would not haul this trailer with this truck.

So, their website says its possible but in real-life, I don’t know that I’d recommend it.

I would love to upgrade to a living quarters. I have a very tight driveway to get in and out of. Here is my dream trailer, although I am a little ways off from getting a new trailer.

6’ wide slant is too narrow, that would only work for small horses. Standard is 7’.

I used to own a 2008 Hawk, 2-horse straight load with LQ. It was custom but when it came in people decided to get something different. I bought it brand new and loved it. It was extra tall. Had the same foot print of a 2+1. It was fully RV rated so could use in an RV park if necessary. I am a little uneasy with a slant in case of an emergency. I had great ventilation, extra padding and fans in horse compartment. I only sold it because I wasn’t using it enough to justify truck and trailer.

I messaged you.
