I’ve heard things about girls in the circuit going on the “eq diet”. What does this mean? How do they do it? What does it consist of? Have any of yiu guys heard about it before? How long does it take? Just any general info! Thanks!
Never heard of such a thing…Maybe they were joking?

It’s just a rumor about what girls do to get thin so quickly, and it was just an interesting topic haha
You can read about it on twitter “anon” accounts. From my hearing, it can range from simply trying to eat higher protein to full blown anorexia. (You can read about cases like that on twitter) It usually starts up at the beginning of WEF or Ocala, so they can get qualified for eq finals early and move in with there life’s, and then starts back up again before Harrisburg. This is NOT a regular thing for BNR’s. there might be some new special deit, specifically for the big eq, but th above is all I have heard of as far as Eq Diets
In general, if something supposedly gets you thin quickly, it is either really not good for your system or doesn’t work. Just saying.
Basically Pseudo-Eating Disorders that superficial riders make up that will supposedly get them to place better in the eq. In reality, they make you weaker and mostly likely not strong enough to ride effectively.
Every time I’ve heard this term, it’s been a veiled reference to anorexia.
Yeah, similar to many jockey diets. Instead, focus on eating healthy and in moderation!
it’s probably no different than the wide varieties of crash diets and extreme or silly things people do to lose weight quickly, but people are just calling it the ‘eq diet’ because they’re losing weight for eq classes instead of, say, prom.
oh god. what next? <shaking head> first world problems.
Speaking as a judge, I will flat out say I am always looking for the best rider in an equitation class. Not the thinnest rider. Not the tallest rider. Not the rider with the longest legs.
The best rider.
A lot of the usage of the word is as a joke, often accompanied by a picture of junk food and/or dessert.
First thing I thought of was hay, oats, and water.

This is so reassuring to hear

With the amount of references I see to eating disorders on Eq and AA-related anon accounts, that seems far from the truth.

Oh, but you don’t understand!
See, anyone can hang out the Anorexic shingle nowadays. Being part of the Big Eq subset is that much more elite. Dieting oneupsmaship, you know.
^ I prefer the Yacht Bikini diet.
Three oz of dom pe a day!
()

Second only to modeling. Not like anyone has ever gotten so sick he/she has missed finals due to being hospitalized with a feeding tube…
If you want to lose weight, diet and exercise, and remember that you need to remain in good shape to ride effectively- so that means building muscle. And you can’t build and maintain lean muscle unless you’re eating. Eating the right things, but eating.
Found out what it is on an anon’s ask FM account -
“How do uu do the big eq diet and how much weight did uu lose?”
Said below but you eat small portions of food and very low cal"
I’m so jealous that you can do the eq diet to lose weight I try but I don’t want my family knowing I’m trying not to eat
It really isn’t that hard to cover up. I wake up too late to eat breakfast, buy lunch and throw it away, parents aren’t home till dinner. My mom almost never makes dinner. But then again my parents aren’t TOOO active in my life and I was always known as the pig in the family lol. But don’t so it! I bet you’re perfect the way you are.
What is the big eq diet? I wanna do it!
Basically where you eat very small amounts of food. You rapidly loose weight!
To get ready for the show season this year, I’m going to go on the cardiologist’s diet…if it takes good, you have to spit it out.
