Some of you may remember my thread on this forum 4 years ago about the adult Pembroke Welsh corgi that i was going to adopt. We got him, and love him to bits. As others have said, extremely smart and stubborn, although extremely food motivated and easy to train as long as you have a sense of humour. Ours is more of a people dog, very sweet and just wants to be glued to your side no matter what you’re doing. His bad traits are inhaling anything that even remotely resembles dood without chewing and asking questions later, and using other dogs as livestock for herding practice at the dog park. I love the little man more than i can say, and we got lucky as he’s either younger than represented or in amazing shape for his age and still very athletic. Then again i own a tb/appy chestnut mare so it’s probably fair to say that i enjoy a challenge…
I have one Corgi, had two but my girl Corgi died very suddenly when she was about 7. She had the hammer as far as the other dogs, cats and other animals were concerned. When she was 6 months old, she put two big Suffolk ewes on the back porch and would NOT let them off of it until I dragged her away to her crate. The remaining Corgi is mellow as can be, and a friend to all other creatures… as long as they leave his food alone. They both are/were cooperative off leash, usually.
