The final resting place of a legend

I posted this on off course…should have been over here…

I was lucky enough to visit Hill ‘n’ Dale farms in Lexington KY while at WEG.

It was an honour to visit the place where Seattle Slew spent his last days and is buried.

Here is an album of the visit:

Very awesome! I’ll have to scan a pic I have of the family standing in front of his statue at Three Chimneys…I also had the priviledge to know Billy and Paula Turner, loved to hear the stories about him!

Ohhh, yes please!! Please share some stories!!

I have heard that he insisted on having music playing at his stall. True?

I have a Slew grandbaby and he actually dances. Well, he weaves to the beat of whatever song is playing on the ipod but we call it dancing!

Great pictures Sisu! I was lucky enough to meet Slew and feed carrots to him in 2000, and later attended his memorial service in 2002, and it was an incredible experience. I also have a pair of Slew grandkids, a mare and a stallion, the latter of which is an identical copy in image of his legendary grandsire, and both were started by Paula Turner at her farm in North Carolina. She did a fabulous job with both of them, and Paula can tell some wonderful stories about Slew as well as other horses she knew from her days at the track.

Great pix. I think that is the 1st statue I have seen of a Thoroughbred that was depicted in anything other than racing condition. Kind of nice!
