Tickets are available now for this exclusive experience highlighting the history of one of the Thoroughbred industry’s leading farms, Spendthrift.

Hosted by former Spendthrift Manager, John Williams, and award-winning author, Mary Perdue, The Glory of Spendthrift Farm Experience is a behind-the-scenes look into an iconic Thoroughbred operation.

The experience itself will include

  • Exploring the iconic ‘Nashua Motel’ stallion complex with John Williams, who managed Spendthrift when it was home to over 40 stallions including Seattle Slew, Affirmed and Nashua!
  • “Straight from the horses’ mouth stories” about the superstar horses who helped Spendthrift to become one of the most prestigious breeding farms in the world.
  • A book presentation and signing with Mary Perdue, author of 2022 Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award finalist “Landaluce: The Story of Seattle Slew’s First Champion” – Mary will share her research into the farm’s history, including its colorful founder Leslie Combs, as well as its fabled broodmares, and many Spendthrift-bred champions.
  • A visit to Spendthrift’s B. Wayne Hughes Visitor’s Center, nearing it’s one-year anniversary as part of the farm’s impressive landscape.

Cool. A friend of mine visited Spendthrift back in the '60s.
I wonder if they will show current visitors his painting and tell the story of his Belmont win and how he got his name …

Kind of odd to pay to go to a book signing…
