The Good , the Bad and the Ugly of Prefab Stalls and the Companies that sell them.

I am towards the end of my barn build project. And now it’s down to picking out who and what to buy from whom. I know what I want. Sliding doors with mesh an an open yoke on one side, dutch doors on the other side, and a grill inset between the two stalls so that I can get airflow and the horses can socialize.

Who do you recommend? Give me the good, the bad and the ugly from your experiences.

Knowing what region you are located in would help.

A friend bought portable stalls he installed permanently in his barn and is very happy with them:

His are not quite what you want, but they will make them any way you choose.
Here is another company in our region that sells to many SW trainers:

There are fancy barn builders that have very neat stalls as you describe, Lucas, Classic come to mind.

I really loved my Priefert stalls. No complaints!

We also did Plyco dutch doors in that barn, and they were fantastic.

I really DON’T like the stall fronts I have now. Don’t know who made them, but when you drop the front on the door, it prevents the door latch from sliding all the back–you have to lift the drop part a little to slide the latch back. Annoying. And dangerous, if the farm sitter doesn’t get it. Just something to watch for when you shop

I’ll second Simkie- my Priefert stall components are awesome! They are 18 years old and still look good and are just as solid as the day I bought them. They are holding up to my stall kicker, too. They are heavy duty, the doors roll smoothly, the color (gray) has held up very well in our damp PNW climate (little to no rust), they were easy to install in our pole barn even for my DH who is semi-handy. I give Prieferts a 5 star rating! (We did buy them from a local farm store and they delivered and helped unload them).

Thanks everyone! I am in South Eastern Virginia. I’ll look in to the Preiferts.

I just bought Ramm stalls and am very happy with them. They offer the doors you describe. Their customer service was excellent, they answered all of my questions and shipped everything much quicker than expected.

I just bought Triton Euro Stalls. Triton Euro Stalls took over and changed the Saratoga stalls brand. They offer all galvanized stalls with a 30 year rust free warranty. Service is good, the stalls are well made and they are at a better price point than the competitors we price checked with. Aliza, is the Florida manager, who we worked with and she made us a great deal. Highly recommend them!

I have Ramm in one barn and Priefert in another. They are both very sturdy but the fit/finish/quality of the Ramm is much better than the Priefert. The Priefert stalls were easy DIY but I don’t like the open track system (collects dust and gets squeaky if you don’t clean it regularly) and the doors don’t open to a full four feet. Do not recommend their wood kit, as many of the pieces were not usable and are covered with a type of shellac that peels off easily. The Ramm are in my main barn and required more assembly but are much more attractive and function flawlessly. We purchased the tongue and groove for this barn from a local sawmill and stained it, which looks much better and is more durable. Ramm was great to work with during the sale and assembly, and the price was reasonable during their February annual sale.
