The NEW & IMPROVED Semi-Official 2013 Maclay Spreadsheet

New links to 2 Google Drive documents:

  1. Maclay order with horse, trainer, placing in regionals and other finals

  2. Full spreadsheet including all riders who competed at finals and most of the regionals entries, whether or not they got in for tomorrow’s class.

This should allow anyone in the document to edit as we go along, and please feel free to do so. Multiple people can be in the document at one time.

A HUGE shout-out to Peggy, who hit on the reason why the original documents weren’t allowing people to edit!

Per my usual OCD self, I’ve made another Maclay spreadsheet to track this years class. However, I think I’ve outdone myself this year (if I do say so myself ;)). I’ve added as many riders from regionals as I could find publicly, as well as entrants from the USEF Talent Search, USEF Medal and WIHS finals, along with trainer and horse information. Please feel free to correct or add information as necessary, especially riding age if you know it.

I’ve included everyone I could find that competed in the regionals or any of the finals, no matter how they fared, because I thought it might be fun to be able to look back in coming years and see how the younger kids moved up along the way. I couldn’t find everything though–many of the regionals did not list all riders that competed, and I couldn’t find a final result for the USEF TS West finals that listed the scores beyond the top ten.

For finals that did not provide results beyond ribbons/call-backs/qualifiers, I put “C” for “competed” in the appropriate box. “S” equals “scratched.”

Anyone can revise the document at any time, and multiple people can be in it at once. You shouldn’t have to sign in or have a Gmail account to do so.

If you’re struggling with Google Drive and want your own copy, PM me your email address.

Enjoy!

OH wow. Awesome.

I think you need to adjust the setting for editing. I’m logged into a Google account, but can’t edit.

Just checked and it says it is set so that anyone on the internet can access and edit. Do you have a black background or a white one? If the former, click the blue “open” button near the bottom right.

If that’s not it, I’m stuck.

Don’t forget to check on COTH’s round-by-round blog - the live feed will (I believe) have audio commentary from last year’s winner, Jacob Pope, and I may be helping with the blog… you might get a double Pope perspective!

Weird, I have it open, but still can’t make changes. It shows up just like a PDF would for me (e.g., not editable cells). I even went back out into my Google Drive and reopened it from there. I’ll keep poking around.

Okay, I think I figured it out. Go up to the File tab and click “Open with…”, then Google Sheets. That worked for me when I signed in from a different account.

I love Google in every other way, but Drive can be so non-intuitive. Maddening.

Is there any way to get the actual live blog back from a couple years back, rather than the one on the chronicle site? My understanding was the original live blogging site wasn’t used anymore because the live stream was there for everyone anyway. With the live stream as poor as it is, I doubt any of us will a) be able to see rails/swaps or b) get to watch a full round without buffering. If there’s anyway to bring that old site back, I’d love it

I can’t get it to open on Google Docs, I somehow got it to open with Excel but not on the Internet page :frowning: I downloaded the Sheets app and it still doesn’t show up under the “Open With” section.

Totally wish I could get it to work, what I saw on Excel seems very interesting!

If we edit on google sheets, will it still edit sitewide?
It’d be really cool if we had a comments tab on there so I could save for my own use to self judge rounds.

Hey all!

We will be live-blogging from the Maclay Finals, and I am working on the technical aspects of getting an actual live blog software embedded in the Chronicle site, so that instead of just me writing every few horses and posting it, we can all join in and chat interactively. Would you all like that better/be interested in that?

I’ll be sure to give you the link plenty ahead of time!

Thanks! Molly

SSacky, I’m not sure what you mean by “the actual live blog back from a couple years back, rather than the one on the chronicle site?”. Hopefully you’re referring to the interactive chat software and I’m already answering your wish?

Yes  I remember there used to be a chat box thingy (great technical terms there  ) and I loved that since we could interact with you !

Thank you so much!

I would LOVE the interactive chat software. LOVE.

You should be able to edit on sheets and have it update…but this will be trial and error. And you should also be able to add a column for comments, too…

Hey, Molly, stop hijacking my thread!:lol::lol: Actually, I was hoping you guys might find the spreadsheet handy for when you’re doing your reporting. I live to serve.

Yes! It’s called Cover It Live, and it’s great. I actually was the live blogger for the Chronicle for the Maclay the year that Hayley Barnhill won—it was a lot of fun to blog for you guys.

Molly with stereo Popes?!? Sweet!!!

I’m sorry to say I won’t be able to see it live, but I look forward to catching up on the play by play on Sunday night or Monday.

My daughter and I will be there live-can’t wait-super excited!!!

Speaking of last year’s Maclay winner, did everybody see the great article Molly Sorge just did on Jacob Pope, and what he’s been up to in the last year since his big win?

Very fun read, and the picture of him jumping a pony bareback with no reins in his youth is ADORABLE!!

I keep seeing stuff on the other thread about the quality of the feed etc… Can someone please tell me if the Maclay live feed will be on USEF Network, or the AllTech site? Thanks so much, can’t wait to watch the Maclay. I live vicariously through those junior riders
