The Oaks CSI pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey thanks you guys! I actually logged on this morning and thought “Taryn, you really went overboard this time.” I pictured Erin kicking my arse for using up more than my fair share of disk space.

But seriously, it was such a special event for the west coast, let alone the US. I did not make it down for the Olympic trials, and seeing all the east coast riders that never come out here was beyond exciting. I still have goosebumps.

M. O’Connor-feel free to do what ever you like with these pictures, I will not call the copyright police! And I did know about Ramiro, an old friend of mine was one of Joe’s many proteges a couple of years back. Mr. Fargis is a true champion of our sport, he gives far to much of himself. My friend owes everything to him.

-------Warning!!!--------

Those who are bandwidth impaired will hate this thread. I profusely apologize.

Let me just say that this was show jumping at it’s finest. That is all.

I went crazy with the Mavica, so first up is a picture of the folks from this board that finally got to meet. A few of you didn’t show (you know who you are ), but those that did were treated to a spectacular afternoon. Everyone was so nice, and it was great to put a name to a face.

Left to right-AAJumper, Caktuskate, coreene, akrogirl, and Taryn.

No problem Taryn - we really enjoyed the weather, and I would much rather be prepared for a cloudy day and get sunshine than vice versa Of course, just about anything seems good compared to summer in Phoenix

Even though coreene was desperately rooting for her homeland, Jeroen Dubbeldam and El Campeons Cayenne were eliminated after 2 stops. His catch ride on one of El Campeons horses just wasn’t a good match.

Gabby Salick and Sandstone Laurin also had a tough time of it, 12 faults in all.

Editor’s note-Conrad Homfield’s course was not terribly technical. There was no ‘problem fence’, everything got its equal share of knockdowns. Nerves perhaps?

And a very sweet pink nose.

Unfortunately, he and Beezie had 4. I wouldn’t let that sway you mare owners though.

The jump-off was fast and furious.

Ray and Fleur had four.

Leslie and S’Blieft had four, but were faster.

Lauren and Clasiko had four, but were faster than Leslie.

Margie and Perin were clear.

And Todd and Oh Star were clear and so incredibly fast. That guy has no fear.

All in all, it was a perfect day-horses, friends, and full catering!

Isn’t Judgement beautiful? The WEF the year before last I was so fortunate to go down to watch and visit an old trainer for a few days, and I ended up standing outside the warmup ring for the Tommy Bahama GP, literally inches away from Judgement. That is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. If only I had a mare…

Quinn, he was on Rio. What a nice horse.

PS as for my closed thread on Rodrigo’s eyebrows, since we’d discusssed it at great length on other threads, and moderators had joined in on it, I didn’t realize it was going to offend. Sorry.

Oh my God - what stunning photos! Your timing kicks my timing’s ass (I always wind up with the rider and horse in some very awkward position ). I was surprised to see John Anderson - he lives and rides right down the road from my barn and was trained by my own coach for quite a while. Dunvegan’s barn name is “Ugly,” because of his scar and that wagging tongue .

Cheers,
Susie

DMJ, I totally understand about the unfriendly towards working people show schedule!!! I sort of felt committed to going since I made a big deal about wanting to go to Blenheim for both weeks as opposed to Blenheim one week, Showpark the next (which I couldn’t do that week). But then the prize list came, and I felt like I couldn’t back out since there were only a few of us going as it was. So I took an extra day off last week and will show 3 days rather than 4 this coming week.

It was so much fun to meet SuaveReno for dinner! El Adobe is excellent. We had a great time…it is so much fun to finally meet people in person!

Next was Kirsten Coe and Glory B. Unfortunely, she went at the same time coreene and I caught sight of the desert table. My apologies to her family.

So, next up was Ramiro Quintana and the very lovely Lacost. They had eight as well.

Of course, I had to be a real groupie and join the line for autographs afterwards Sorry guys, Rodrigo didn’t go up any in my estimation (similar attitude to Vegas), but Will and Richard were very friendly, as always, as were most of the other US riders I did feel sorry for Richard in the speed class when some officials walked across Bradford’s path as he was turning for the final fence - talk about stupidity!
All in all though, a great day - an incredible final round by Todd Minikus, wonderful weather and a great chance to meet fellow BBers
However, Taryn, wasn’t there some conversation about digitally enhancing the group photo to make us all look like super models…?

The girl jumped the pants off Will, but she left with 4 .

Mary Ting and Baccarat had 4 as well.

Oh, and here’s Rodrigo again

Hi DMJ, is Gretchen T. working with Susie and La Gometa, by any chance? My friend and I saw her at ringside and went down to say hi, and got the impression that there was some connection there.
Gretchen is such a super person, and we always love it when she comes out to give a clinic

uh oh Akrogirl you caught me Actually, I was just standing back and supervising my teenaged “charges” - who had instructions to let me know if they saw McLain. Ah well. I am sure I would have had absoloutely nothing intelligent to say to him anyway. Drool. Did you happen to get a picture??

Coreene - thought the locking of the thread was pretty harsh. Eesh!

DMJ, you should have shown at Blenheim this past week instead of this coming week…you could have schooled right alongside McLain! I was schooling for my jumper class on Friday morning amongst many of the competitors in the big open grass field. McLain walked right by on his horse, and I could see why he has quite a few fans! I felt quite priviledged to be able to school out among such great riders!!!

Oh, regarding Gretchen and Susie…I have not seen her helping Susie in the ring, and I am fairly certain she wasn’t helping her on Sunday. We didn’t see her at all until Sunday, and she showed up only to spectate, I believe.
