Neighbor Cat’s putative owners live across the road. Their fear and loathing of anyone not straight, white and god-fearing may be why she spends most of her time with us, cadging rides and slipping into vehicles:

Neighbor Cat. We got her a heated cat shelter over the winter, so have totally accepted that she’s Our Cat, but a rotating population of feline barn residents over the years has sapped my creativity. We also have Friendly Black Cat, Scared Black Cat,* and Feral Cat.
My daughter has been trying out other names and has probably settled on Mountain, but she does respond to Neighbor Cat…
*Totally two different cats, because I’ve seen them at the same time

This is how you know you are a Cat Lady of Multiple Cats – the names are reflective of the cat’s origin story, personality, or defining features - instead of names like Barton or Missy.
One year we had three Franks (two were ferals that showed up) – Angry Frank, Friendly Frank, and House Frank. They were all black cats that had an uncanny face resemblance too.

I doubt their personal preferences had much to do with it but more like kitty just prefers what is happening at your place?
My neighbors cat adopted us not long after we bought the place. No idea why? I was outside with the horses a lot and working in the yard and painting trim .
They were a nice couple but both had day jobs. When he climbed up my body one day , frantically grabbing at my PB sandwich I went over and told them I was going to start feeding him… 
They were fine with it. He never went back.
