The Troxel Western Hat Helmet DOES NOT FIT, page four

I agree Goneriding24…many companies just do not make women’s wear as sustantial as men’s wear. Even outdoor/farm/utility wear companies don’t make the womens’ versions as well as the mens’. Pisses me right off. Most companies make the womens’ wear to the same standards as the childrens’.

Trixie is right…cowboy boots never mean “wear them once” or “once in a while.” They look fantastic with tons of outfits! And if you get the right style and fit for you, they’re comfy as heck.

And dammit Coreene…I was looking last night online for wide calf cowboy boots and came across a pair I feel a drastic need to own! I need to buy boots right now like I need a hole in my head…but that’s not stopping me from drooling over them:

I don’t know why these came up in a search for wide calf styles though. But Lordy are they scrumptious!

I wouldn’t think “one halter class and one flat class” would even slow you down! After all, didn’t Oliver first get his pimped-out saddle, and then breast collar, without even a thought of showing?:lol:

Just looked at the Durangos…they have a “Shorty” slouch boot that’s really cute and has a wider calf. Looks like they come in pointed or square toes.

Western folks…besides asthetics is there any reason to go with a different toe shape for riding?

Aesthetics has nothing to do with it - it is much easier to grab a stirrup with a pointed or slightly rounded toe. A square or full round toe box makes one more apt to kick the stirrup away rather than snag it and slid your foot in.

And silver show headstall. This is one of the big reasons eBay was invented. Because then I could pick up a fab silver show halter and matching lead shank for pennies and dress my Halfsteiner up as a giant Quarter Horse.

I live in the middle of cattle ranch country, where the cows are actually worked off horseback, not four wheelers. Standing rule is Fatbabies are NOT to be ridden in.

I knew about the silver show headstall, but hadn’t heard about the show halter and matching lead shank. I think Oliver would be mortified if he’s fully accessorized, and you show up in some ugly-a** boots. Yep, I can see you’ve been thinking about this. How good of you, to plan ahead and go for the total look!

Fat Babies aren’t for riding, that’s for sure. We are a No-Fat Babies household here.

It’s easier to grab a stirrup with a pointed toe boot though I rode and walked in my square toed Durangos all last summer. I bought pointed toes this year.

Makes sense on the pointed toe! Good news too since I like that toe best!

Give me cricket killers any day of the week over those square toed things. Egads!

I definitely like the pointed toe better, but when I was wearing my boots for 12hrs/day the rounded toe was more comfortable.

Stryder, no point doing things in half measures - if you’re going for the photos, go big or go home hahahahaha.

Current “in” style seems to be square toes - it’s what everyone I’ve seen at shows is wearing. Which is too bad as I like pointy toes better…

I just bought these for showing (reining) this summer - http://www.shoebuy.com/dan-post-boots-jackson-hole-12-dp2877/420592/895594. They’re crazy comfy and the calfs are reasonably big. I bet in one of the 11" shafts you’d be good to go. Plus, they’re offering 20% off and free shipping both ways. AND, if you create an account you get 10% off every order. I got mine for only $96.

Quite frankly, I’m shocked that Aunt Esther would even consider anything but a custom-made, full Python, Lucchese boot. Anything less would be totally out of character.

Sorry, I can’t resist this. Should be “go big or STAY home.”

I can’t wait to see the pics.

Aunt Esther knows that Python is so '80s.

Problem solved!

And actually, it wound up being more of an issue than I had originally thought: my instep is so high I can’t get into cowboy boots. Oy vey. So I got the lace-up Ariat ropers with the kiltie.

We went to Boot Barn yesterday, all the suggestions written down, and no joy with anything except laces. Which is sad, because I was just swoooooooning and there were SO many I would have snapped up in a second.

Yeah, I know, it may not be exactly what they wear in the Big Time Show Pen, but I am in the Itty Bitty Fundraiser Schooling Show Pen With A Half Holsteiner Half APHA Pretending To Be A Quarter Horse.

You know, a Halfsteiner.

Thank you again for all your help!

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, grasshopper.

But, seriously, and, oh, by the way, WTF, boots called Fatbabies? Can not wrap my head around the strategic thinking behind that one.

Now see?
This is why Great Minds Think Alike.
What’s the use of my having a Great Big Buckskin Australian Warmblood if I can’t pass him off as an irradiated QH?

After all, even if daddy was Hanoverian, his momma was 1/2 Australian Stock Horse & 1/2 QH.
It’s in his jeans

Besides, the thought of being able to show in jeans myself is pretty attractive…

Look out, County Fair
They’s a Big New Horse in Town

Now I gotta work on making trot into jog & canter into lope…

2DF, I cannot begin to tell you how jealous I am that you have a buckskin, for I absolutely love them. Any photos you can share?
