The Troxel Western Hat Helmet DOES NOT FIT, page four

Calf size kinda depends on the style of boot as well: more so than just Lacers or Ropers, but maker, design, use, etc. If you get a good pair of leather cowboy boots (just plain with a walking or a riding heel…if you’re doing both, I suggest walking heel,) they will stretch out, or you can take them to a boot repair shop and have them stretched slightly. You don’t need a gusset.

I can’t stand FatBabies. They look like boots that Real Housewives of (insert county of choice here) County or “I’m gonna go runnin’ barrels in booty shorts, a tank top with my boobs hangin’ out, and big ole spurs that I don’t know how to use” teenie boppers would wear.

I’ve had the same pair of plain, “distressed” pointed/rounded toe brown leather boots for the past thirteen years, and I haven’t even had to have the soles replaced in them. They’ve been worn for cattle doctoring all the way to Summer sundresses.

My fiancé has square toe black leather boots he wears with formal pants as well as riding. He just looked better in square toe, and he never did any doctoring, etc.

Oh, Just GO for It!!!

Must check out the Lucchese Boot web site. To die for!

Would be well worth ordering and then have your shoe guy customize the fit for you! You would definitely wear them for more than just shows.
And, I am sure that you and Oliver will have so much fun, that you will be doing a lot more showing on the western circuit.

You know that Hunter Princess’ never grow out of the dressing up and showing thing. We just move on to be Dressage Divas or Cowgirl Queens, (impeccably turned out, of course! )

 I prefer to keep my fat and skinny calves barefoot. The cowboys would mock my cattle in footwear. No one thinks it is fair to rope a calf waddling along in heels, and no one wants to be out-shoe-fashioned by their future hamburger.

Ooo as I said earlier I don’t usually like bling, but those lucchese 1883 Classys are GORGEOUS.drool

OP, I hit your name instead of the “3” and your profile pic came up. What a fab picture!! Loves it! Adorable horse too!

Ustabe, Lucchese wouldn’t make Womens boots. They thought that our little feetsies were too elastic and so they couldn’t make a proper pair. Cher even got turned down. They’ve come a long way, baby!

Thank you, that is my former horse Willem, now residing in the Great Pasture in the Sky. He was a character.

So in case some of you missed it, I got lace up Ariat Ropers on Sunday because my instep is so high I can’t get them into damn boots.

BBer Mypaintwattie is trying to enable even more by suggesting that I now need black chaps, and I keep saying I do not. There is something just wrong with wearing black show chaps and a riding helmet.

I don’t think a helmet and chaps would bad.
(then again, I don’t know western fashion)

However…considering your heritage you could go with a helmet cover:

OMG Coreene, I just got a big chuckle reading your signature…BEST BRITISH TV SHOW EVER. I grew up watching Hyacinth Bucket. Poor, poor Richard! One of my favourite episodes is when Hyacinth “goes riding.” What a superstar that horse was.

Sorry for the diversion, just had to comment - I can’t believe I missed that before!

PS I think Aunt Esther could one up Hyacinth no problem!

Misty, Misty, Misty. It is only because I love you so much that I will not be insulted by you thinking I was of Scandinavian heritage.

Dutch people do not wear horns. We are not Vikings!

ever ridden in clogs?

Oh, I wish it was only the teenie boppers that dressed like this around here! Gah. Where is the eye bleach?

Yes. I will never wear anything else again! I have these, and they are even prettier in person than I expected:

They also have them in brown with green, very pretty. And extremely comfortable once they’ve been broken in - the soles might wear out and need to be replaced, but those boots will last (near) forever!

My deepest apologies Coreene…I get the blonde nationalities mixed up.

Troxel makes an approved helmet/hat:

OMG - a blinged-out helmet worthy of Oliver’s pimped-out saddle (and accessories).:yes::yes::yes:

Thank you. I agree.

I’m sure someone out there can pull them off, but I just can’t take them seriously.

I used to wear lace-up ropers. Looked great and didn’t have to worry about calf fit.

No, I have ridden in wooden shoes though. On a small pony that thought being ridden was no bueno and had me off 12 times in about 15 or 20 minutes, and then did the same with my brother. Who was no wearing wooden shoes.

When we were chillens, of course.

Have you seen the Hermes helmets?

Duuuuuuuuuuude. I nearly peed in my pants they are so fine.

They need to make a black western helmet that doesn’t make a person look like a total arsehole. You know, that looks like a cowboy hat and not a spaceship.

Hello
I stumbled upon this site on google when searching for something else and saw the "help with fat calves question
I actually invested in a calf stretcher for the store and stretch a ton of boots that I sell no matter the brand  I have had women order Lucchese boots and pay more for a custom fit when they could have just had me stretch their boots for free
Anyhow, if you guys ever have any questions, I’d like to help the members out on the site.

I won’t plug our website since I’m not an advertiser here but am more than willing to answer any questions anyone has on any brand and help you with fit/sizing and calf issues

I’m used to powerboat forums and am pretty aware of the software used on this one.

Cool site

Have you looked at the Troxel Cheyenne helmet?
http://www.lightningg.com/images/products/cheyenne_helmet.jpg
Or with pink:
http://troxelhelmetsonline.com/images/Troxel_Cheyenne_Helmet.jpg

About $130. Not a bad dealio.

Just checked out Hermes helmets.
Is this the one?
http://www.fashionphile.com/includes/images/CD10939/cd23513a.jpg
All the other images coming up on Google were the helmet Hermes actually wore…ya know with wings attached to it.
http://summer.agnesirwin.org/StudentWork/WebDesign_SS2010/Jamie%20Skeele/Pictures/hermes.jpg

That might work, but I’m not sure about replacing spurs with little wings on the feet.

FWIW: I wear a Troxel Cheyenne helmet while riding whether it be trails or around a ranch, and frankly - laugh if they might, but hey - who’s gonna be laughing when I fall off a horse, etc.?

Misty, sadly there seem to be none of those Troxel western hats available, and I want one in a size large. Post TBI I can’t even get on a dead horse without a helmet, and yet I would rather wear the approved cowboy hat than a helmety-looking helmet any day. My bling-a-ling Hobby Horse Vegas pimped tunic would be insulted by a helmety-looking helmet.

And yes I absolutely understand that the approved cowboy hat is just so ugly.
