Therapeutic sheets, ionic sheets, vibrating sheets, wut?

I have the Rambo sheet. It looks very fancy

And the horse dries very nicely, the sheet also stays dry. The sheet really stays in place nicely. I don’t use it every night (at least not right now), so can’t say if it does anything else.

I received the Rambo Ionic sheet 10 days ago and my horse has been wearing it every night. I first wrapped it around myself and it did not take long before I felt the capillary opening skin-tingling sensation I usually feel with my Back on Track products. So I put on the horse.

The sheet fits well, stays in place and looks great. I think Rambo should have used their normal front velcro closure with the flap. Seems like they cheaped out with the standard overlapping velcro closure, but it does stay closed.

Does it work? I don’t know, but my horse overall has been a lot more relaxed and is behaving much better for his hand walks (which also could be attributed to a couple of well-timed thwacks).

He’s also been doing a lot more yoga stretches and even started doing them in the cross-ties. I never have a camera handy but he does them like this:

My older horse has been wearing the BOT sheet every night in the pasture. I just ordered him the BOT turn-out, which I got for a very good price from an ebay seller and was able to use an ebay coupon. It should be just the right weight for nighttime and when the weather starts cooling down he can wear the sheet during the day and a blanket at night.

I also ran across this Thermotex Infrared Heat Therapeutic Horse Blanket. Someone needs to buy it and write up a full review!

I have several pieces of BOT gear. I am pretty sure they work, except for the bell boots (which run small).

Another one to ponder (or marvel at?) – the Accuhorsemat:

Not sure my horse would appreciate a blanket lined with poky bits. At $495, we won’t be finding out.

I was skeptical until I bought the sock liners and glove liners for myself. I have arthritic feet and hands and I sleep with the socks on and sometimes the gloves. It really does make a difference for me. I bought the Back on Track mesh sheet and just started using it. I threw it on my horse when I brought her in before I rode her several days in a row. So the sheet was on her for maybe 45 minutes to an hour before I rode. I need to experiment further but I can honestly say she was looser and freer and used her back better from the beginning after having used the sheet. The day after this it was quite warm so I did not use it. My horse was not as good in her back. I will be trailering out most of the winter and she will wear it when she travels. I’m an RN and skeptical of any type of voodoo type touchy-feely products however I do believe that the Back on Track products help based on personal experience. I can’t tell you why though.

The articles that the OP linked to on the effects of Far infrared radiation are interesting and do reference controlled scientific studies. The upshot is that ceramic particles woven into fibers do generate more than just reflected heat.

Worth reading, especially for those skeptics.

I recently bought some BOT leg wraps. She had had a bout of lymphagitis (sp?) in one hind leg, and received vet treatments, antibiotics, etc. and had mostly lost the swelling in the leg. But there was still a little residual swelling and I wanted to try the BOT wraps as a way to help clear that up.

They have seemed to work. The leg is noticeably tighter (and I had been wrapping the legs with regular standing wraps before). Maybe this would have happened anyway as part of the normal healing process, and I’d certainly agree that they’re not miracle cures. But they appear to have helped.

I’m glad you mentioned the leg wraps because I own a set quick wraps and I think it might finally be time to start using them again.

When my horse’s front suspensory injury was new the wraps generated a lot of heat after only about 20 minutes on. I used the wraps only a few times while alternating with ice but was afraid to use them alone for any length of time because I just didn’t know what that might do.

Now that the injury is well on its way to healing, and my horse is recovering from pastern leukocytoclastic vasculitis of his hind legs (occasional niggling swelling) and has banged up his other front leg (doing god knows what) I think I will go ahead and try the wraps again.

I use Fenwick Liquid Titanium Sheets and leg wraps on my boys and they seem to have helped both of them considerably. Both have been on box rest both before I started using them and while using them and I’d say it’s helped them stay in really good shape / improve. There’s a noticeable difference in the one who works hard when I leave it off for the night to wash and he’s just had an infection under the skin (pesky thorn or something) and there was a massive difference in the swelling when I bandaged overnight with the leg wrap or without. I was a sceptic too until these two things changed my mind. I’ve also used them on myself and they definitely help my muscle stiffness.

I use the BOT wraps for my horse. His ankle stocks up (think is loading on one side due to his hock). When I poultice it, it stocks, but when I use BOT wraps it does not. I am not yet sold on whether the blankets work or not.

I think that everyone here agrees that the BOT/Theramic sheets and wraps do work to reduce swelling in the legs and warm up the muscles before exercise. The Rambo sheet is a negative ion therapy and has a soothing effect as well for a horse in rehab or one with chronic issues. I recently leased from Farmvet the Sports Innovation Therapy sheet with Magnetic, massaging and heat therapy and I will be writing a review on it in here. It is $370 to lease and $6000 to purchase. It would have to work miracles for me to purchase so I will let you guys know.

I am not a fad or crowd follower - I make up my own mind about things.
After using Back on Track for both myself and my horse, all I can say is - they worked for me. I pulled a groin muscle the year before last and wrapping myself up with one of my BoT polos cut the healing time in half.

My elderly mother slipped on a stair case, grabbed the hand rail and avoided a fall but wound up with a sore arm. She is not a horse person and had no idea what I was wrapping around her arm (my polo of course.) The next day she said the pain was gone - and never came back.

I have the mesh sheet, the neck cover and now the turnout for my horse and it has made a huge difference in him too.
My nickle’s worth. . .

Aww…access denied. I really want to see the sanity pen!

Wow, this thread brings back so many memories. As for the sheet, he has outgrown it, so if anyone wants to buy it I will make a deal! Size 81. His injury healed and in spite of him trying repeatedly to kill himself he is sound and working regularly.

Here is the sanity pen. It really worked – for us both.

Also, I finally got some pictures of his yoga stretches. He is such a funny guy.

I definitely recommend Draper Therapies over BOT. Check them out.

Zombie thread…but I do wonder if anyone has used the BOT hock boots (or other hock boots) for a horse while waiting to do hock injections?
