There is a roach in my dog food bin

The polite term is Palmetto Bug.

I got up to feed the canines at 6AM as per usual. I took the lid off of the bin. A roach was frantically circling the container. I gingerly scooped the kibble out and served my hungry doggles.
I put the bin outside.
Several hours later, I checked.
It’s still in there.

Take it out and squash it or flush it?? You might want to have your house checked and maybe bombed if you are afraid you have more?

Dump the roach out or scoop him out while the bin is outside. By this time I’d dump any remaining food as the roach will have walked on it and possibly pooped on it too.

I might not be able to do this if the bug were a big spider so you have my sympathy!

oh yuck. You have my sympathy. I used to have black widows in my grain bins. I learned to co-exist with them (mostly because I only had to open the bin once a day for a few minutes) but never learned to like them. A palmetto bug - glah. no no no hell no

Not sure about palemtto bugs, but we have wood roaches here. They do not move in and lay eggs, they just wander inside from time to time. I absolutely get the hebie-jeebies and the skin crawls. Thank heavens for mu DH and MIL, or I might have to leave the state!
